Would you buy a home for cheap next to a highway?

So we got offered an apartment which looked over the Brooklyn queens expressway here in new York. Yes an Expressway! Literally you walk out onto your porh and you could jump right into the road with all the cars. It's unique I can say that but crazy. I understand it would be noisy and shaky but it's near everything shopping work and schools. But under the highway is not so pleasant. I heard of bad crime going on there so we will not be moving . If it wasn't for the crime we would be getting out of our tiny abode. Would you do it?

Would I do it? No, I would not do it. I live in an apartment and it's on a main street. I didn't think the noise would bother me and after four years, I can't wait to get out of here and find some peace and quiet. That's just me. As far as the crime, no thanks. Think of it this way too, when you're ready to move in a few years (which is normal), who's going to want that house? The crime might get even worse and the noise is a deterrent to begin with. The only thing you might be able to do with it is rent it out at that time. But that means you need more money to purchase another home, and need money to keep up the maintenance on the rental. Don't be in a hurry to find your dream house..it's there, you just haven't found it yet. Stay in your tiny abode until the right time comes along.

Oh yeh, and one other thing to keep in mind. Dirt, dust, pollution, is all included in your new home because of the cars, and trucks. You'll probably need to dust every day in order to keep it down...it's no fun. I can't even keep my windows open as much as I like in the summer.

Exactly my eldest has asthma, allergies so that wouldn't be good. I would think of the electricity bill to keep the windows closed all spring summer fall and use the air conditioner wopuld be expensive. It was expensive this summer at a thousand for two months because we had dust from brick work all summer long and we didnt want it to come into the home. Thank you for giving me more to think about as we look further as seeing you have experienced this kind of living. thank you.

Personally, there is no way you would catch me living in a Big bustling area like that. I don't care what type of deals they might be offering. I enjoy the quiet and Peace once in a while and this does not entice me. I prefer living close enough to where all the action might really be, but yet Far enough so that I have to travel a little to get close to where all the action is.

Gosh! Not in a million years! But seriously, I think it is one of the unsafest place that you would consider in having your own place. Just imagine how dangerous it could be. Imagine the road accidents which might even reach your house if there was a car chase between the police and bad men. And of course, the terrible pollution!

Knowing all the situation for the future dwelling place. I think it would not be wise to accept the offer even if its cheap and near to to the workplace and other establishment to make a living easier because the security is not safe and don't have a good resting place after hardest work . Every family aims to have a dwelling place either big or small to have it safe from any bad elements .And where the family could live peacefully and harmoniously together.
