What is the purpose of the weekly report then?

I am a little pissed this morning upon learning that our AN was asking for analysis result yesterday. Yesterday, we had a provincial holiday so we took the day off. According to our admin. assistant, yesterday our AN called her up asking for the analysis result. She told him it was already included in the weekly report I have submitted last Friday. He asked her why we are all out in the laboratory, she told her it is a holiday then he said why it's holiday. He always like this. He is so demanding. He always want to be spoon fed. He already have an assistant to summarize reports for him but still he wants us to always text him the results. So now, what is the purpose of our weekly report then? The reports are regularly given on Friday for their use. He can download it and save it to his laptop or iPad. He don't need to force us to send him report because unlike him, we don't have company laptop we can take home. He is really spoiling my day because I wonder why he is making things harder for us. He is not even our immediate boss. Anyway, I don't want to dwell with him much because I still need to finish reports now. Thank you for reading.

Well, like what I always say, that's the prerogative of the bosses. Since they're the higher ups, they can pretty much do anything to annoy us and make our jobs more difficult than it actually is. Most of the time they even have me wondering how they ended up on that position, lol! But I'm not referring to all, I did have some really heaven-sent bosses. Anyway, the best thing that you can do is just do your job and make sure you meet your set expectations and job descriptions. That way, he can do whatever crap he wants and hurl them at your time and you can emerge just fine because you know deep down in your gut you did be heck of a good job. Have fun on your holiday and don't let that guy spoil your fun!

Hi! We diligently do our work so that we can pass the reports on time and on regular basis. If he ask for it of course we will have to give him that in any way we can. But a little courtesy in asking is what we need and that this should not happen always all the time. Our AN is just too much thinking he is much higher than our real boss. Anyway, I should not deal with him that much. Thanks for the response.

Hi shylade! I think we just have to follow their instructions. They are our superiors and not following instructions would mean insubordination. There are times that I myself would like to complain on some things regarding the policies or work related matters, but I just thought that there is no use doing it. I just have to do my part and perhaps when the time comes that I am ready to have my own business and have other sources of income, I just have to render my resignation. But so far that I am relying on the company or agency, I am bound to follow every instruction that they gave. Have a nice day!

Yeah so I really have no choice. But then again, if I am the boss I will never do such because I know my subordinates work hard just to finish the reports for me to see. If ever I will call them on a holiday and I need something from them because i fail to download the results, I will be polite to ask not the arrogant way our AN just did. It's okay with me as long as he do it politely. Thanks for the response.
