Do your kids snoop and plunder?

My daughter lives with us at the moment, along with my 12-year-old grandson. They have been here three years. Hopefully she'll be moving in the next month or so. Anyway, when my daughter was a little girl she use to know where everything was. If I couldn't find my pantyhose, that kid knew where they were at. If I couldn't find my mascara tube, she would know where it was. I don't care what it was, she knew where to find it. Well, my grandson is kind of the same way. My husband and I went off for a few days this week just to get away. When I got home, the first thing I noticed was a flowery smell in the bathroom. It took me a day to figure out what it was, it was carpet fresh. I have yet to find the container and I don't have carpet in my bathroom. I was vacuuming and looked under my bed, I found a little basket that had been missing and one of those refill air-freshener bottles. My husband came out of the bathroom last night and said 'Elijah doesn't even bother to hide his plundering does he?' There was cornstarch all over the bathroom counter. I don't know, it's very trying. His mom was kind of like that but she was a lot younger and you didn't know she had been into anything unless you couldn't find it and she was Johnny on the Spot getting it for you. I've about decided to just lock my bedroom the next time we go off. I hate to do that because he isn't actually being destructive. But he is getting into my personal space and invading my privacy so to speak. We've talked to him about it but it's no use. Maybe he'll outgrow his curiosity. Do you have any kids or grand-kids that do that.

Children do go through that phase wherein they tend to be getting practically anything. They don't necessarily play with them all the time, but sometimes they just want to hide it somewhere. I guess their baby minds are trying to stretch a little and that makes them curious about anything and everything. It is okay to keep your room locked when you're away. It saves you the trouble of finding things that you will be needing in the future.
