I still can't believe I met my husband on Match.com but it actually worked. I guess it's more popular now these days and a lot of people are doing it. I dated online for about a year and a half and then I met him. Overall dating online was a pretty good experience.. I met a lot of nice people even a couple of people that I am still friends with today. Anyone want to share their experiences? My husband had lots of stories for me from his experiences of girls he dated prior to me.

We've been married for 3 years and have a baby and are very happy. I had doubts too when I started because there are a lot of dishonest people out there... but there are everywhere whether you meet them at the bar, stores, or your workplace.

Oh that's interesting. I am quite apprehensive about online dating sites but with your story I realized it has advantages to some people like you. However there are those who met dates who only took advantage of them. I think every one who participates in this kind of site should just be careful and more discerning.

I have found that people will lie and take advantage as well...regardless of where you met them initially ...online, in the grocery store, at work, etc... You have to be careful regardless.

I haven't tried dating online before. I guess I am afraid that people there just want one thing from the other. Plus, there can also be chances that not all they say when you are chatting there are all true. just like in here, or any other online sites where more people are talking. some things are said just to avoid negative thinking from the other. I guess personal meetings are much better. cause there are things being said that are not seen and there are also seen but not being acted or felt...

The point is to initially meet online but then meet in person.

I still can't believe you said you "dated online" for a year and a half. Just what does that entail? A date would be more like something to do in person, no? I can't imagine telling people I dated online with anyone and them looking at me with a straight face. I congratulate you though if this worked for you. I'm sure it wouldn't for many others.

When I say dating online I mean that I met people through the site Match.com. I would chat over email with a number of people and ended up dating in person a few people that I connected with.

I am always fascinated to read about different love and dating stories. I have not tried to look for a date online before when I was still single. Maybe I don't have the guts to do it but it sounds fun to me. Still I am so thankful as God gave me a nice love story. My husband was my college school mate. My 1st boyfriend and the person I chose to be with for the rest of my life. Happy dating.

Online or real world friends , are just the same , some are good , some are fake some are genuine. No harm in having online friends , just don't give your credentials and your full blast trust especially if your newly acquainted. A day to day interaction will make you see the true color of that online friend, you will feel his intentions and you will also know the values he is holding. It is a beautiful experienced having online friends , if you are just lucky to have that good man.

We met initially online on a dating website. We exchanged a few emails, talked on the phone and then met in person. We lived about 10 miles apart. Of course we dated in person for a year like anyone else would...the site is just a way to meet people in your local area. At the time I worked with a bunch of women so never met many guys t work and really didn't lie meeting guys at bars.

I have never dating online before, coz i think you never know who is sitting before the computer, does he or she is a really good guy, or does he or she is not cheat you. I have a friend who always meet people online, then they became intimate friends , but ,at last ,they broke up .'he is not the guy i have imagined',just because of this. however it is still a good way to make friends online as long as you are cautious enough.

I believe online dating can work just fine. The Internet is just another platform where people can meet. It's easy and accessible, convenient, even. It's nice to hear you met your husband online, it's nice to hear a positive story about finding love with the use of the Internet. I met my boyfriend of 8 years online, although not on a dating site.

Hi Kemak, i tried that site but not successful. I also tried other sites, chatrooms etc but just got some bunch of weirdos and pervert online :(. I did not give up my hope to find the right one and I think I found him or let say he found me..?? I found my first boyfriend online and it was a 6 years relationship and I thought that he will be the first and last man for me but online dating plus a long distance relationship IS VERY HARD!! You got to have strong trust, loyalty, faith and most of all love with each other. Our relationship failed after 6 years because it's hard for him the kind of situation we have. We only got to see each other 1 month/year. I guess it's not really meant to be since we did not exert all our effort to be together once and for all. You are lucky you met your husband online and most likely surpassed all trials between you :) . As I have said, I did not give up hope and finally found a great man who are making my life more colorful than the rainbow in the sky :p . Hopefully this will last a life time and not just years :) I'm happy coz he decided to come here in the Philippines this Christmas to meet me and my family and probably stay here for good. Weeeeeeeeeeeee!! Wish it will turn out like yours... happily married.. Wish me luck! Hope for a great happy married life for both of you :)

Thats is so sweet and yes its more popular now and some people are just abusing the system . I believe love can start anywhere. Online dating get a lot of bad name these days because like almost every good things you have a bad seed that spoil it for everyone .

I never try it, even I promote some online dating. Specially for mobile dating, and match.com is one of them. I get paid when someone sign up.

The only one I met online (match.com indeed) turned out to be a scammer living in Nigeria. After he was discovered and I send the police over him (actually I found him way quicker as the English and Dutch Ambassady did with help of an other scammer) we did had some (way better) talks. Turned out because of our online chats he really did like me. For me internet is not the way to meet someone. I found out too much people lie about who or what they are or want or like. Esp. men. I can't understand why since internet is the best way to be honest and let your wishing list know. If the other is not accepting it or fitting into it you can leave without meeting first or hurting anyone.

I met my ex girlfriend online, it was introduce by a friend. We ended as friends because of differences in status in life and so many other reasons. We lasted for a year chatting and exhanging e-mails. A relationship that started to an online platform does not mean that this will fail or same with those who are not online. I think, what matters is that the love regardless in whatever ways it started. Goodluck to yu both and thanks for the discussion. Thanks
