Have you ever had someone at the store stand way too close to you in the checkout line? I've had it happen to me a few times and it happened again today. I'm not someone that needs tons of personal space but this person was practically on top of me. I don't know if they were in a hurry or what but it sure wasn't going to do any good. I tried to not be rude but I had to say excuse me so she would move do I could sign the credit card machine. Ugh...I was annoyed but maybe it was partly because I was in a hurry to get out of there so my baby would stop crying.

When I am in line somewhere I give ample space, usually a BUGGY full of space. Now At my store it's set up a little different, you give the buggy to the cashier and then go around to the front. Some go around to the front and stand practically beside the person still checking out, and THAT annoys me as a cashier. When I am checking out at my store I stand by my buggy until the person in front of me is leaving and at her buggy OR I stand directly in front of the cashier, but still far enough away to be respectful.. I don't know why people like to stand on top of each other.

Ther eare some days I just can't control myself. Knowing myself, I'd have said something like "I know you can back off" without even looking at her. Though Walmart is a heck of a place to shop, I know I shop there but people are always in a hurry, or not in enough of a hurry. Too busy of a place for me.

I'd rather not shop there but there prices are so good I can't resist. I try to get in and out as fast as I can! But at least I don't stand on top of others in line : )

I don't really think that people are doing this with any intention but yes, it can be annoying. I guess if they (man or woman) get to close you can always ask them if they are trying to kiss you. This may get them to back off or perhaps you will get a kiss!

I hate people like that, people who don't have any respect for other people's personal space... I was standing in line at a grocery store one time & I was standing behind this one lady... She seemed like she had quite a few items in her cart so I was just standing back waiting... Then I noticed a lady behind me was creeping up, getting closer & closer to me... So I looked straight at her & said, "You being up my a** isn't gonna make this line go any faster...". She gave me a weird look & backed off... Sometimes you just gotta get back in their faces or other wise, they'll never stop...

I too hate these kind of people. One of my classmates have this habit.Whenever he talks,he comes so close that I tend to step back. But he comes closer again. No matter how many back steps I take,he always comes closer. Not only his body is closer,he always puts his head a little forward so that his face is so close to mine and that is the most awkward situation. It is like almost we both are going to kiss.I can't stand watching all over his face in disgust and this people would think it is a triangle sign and we are going to kiss.I have told hi several times, but still he does the same.I need my own personal space.

I have been around a few people like that and I feel like I'm constantly backing up. You'd think they'd get a clue and notice that you keep moving away from them!

its probably she wanna u go out of the line faster by pestering u to move forward in a hurry.. or she just wanna be close enough to the person infront so taht she can get nearer to get done with her queueing towards the cashier or away from the person behind her...etc..lol.

excusing yourself so that they would move a little is the most polite way I can think of had I been in your situation as well. I have experienced that a lot of times especially when you're out and about and it really is annoying when others dont seem to notice nor to care that if they were already invading your personal space or not. Kudos for you did an excellent job!

I also cannot stand it when someone sits/stands too close to me, I feel like my space is being invaded and it's a very awkward feeling. What's even worse, is when the person standing in your space has bad hygiene...enough said.

Omg I hate when this happens!! I really don't like it when strangers stand really close to me in a line. I feel like they're in my personal space when I don't even know who they are. I was in line somewhere the other day and the girl was standing right at my back and I accidentally elbowed her a few times because she was in the way, I wish I could remember where I was that it happened but it really annoyed me
