I'm (almost) happy with the little that I have

Dear friends Mylotters. Many of you know me, although I rarely write threads, I only do it when I'm really inspired on a particular topic. Today, in the section "life" I want to talk about the fact that I, I'm happy with what I have, and do not want, at the time nothing more! So, let's begin. We assume that I'm unemployed, and therefore I do not have an income. But I am disabled at 75%, for which I perceive a monthly allowance amounting to € 278. Not much money, but to me, at the moment enough. You say why? The answer is simple, because as I said before, I am aware of my situation, and therefore also of my limits and I'm happy with what I have. Keep the example of the computer. I would like to have one of  superior performance, however I have a simple netbook, but for what I do, all right! Cars, motorcycles, private? No thanks, I travel by bus. I am disabled, so I own subscription facilitated. How boring all day at home? Well at 5:00 PM every afternoon I go out and I go to discount stores to buy an energy drink (priced at only 60 cents), I drink sitting on the benches and watch the people go by. Ok, I guess your comments, I already know! I can not be happy leading this kind of life, on the one hand it would also be true. But in my condition, how to do it better?

2 thumbs up for you alberello you inspire me a lot,you are one of the few people who have positive view in life.I've known many people who are successful, rich and not disabled like you. They can buy everything they want but still they are not satisfied and happy for what they have now. They say something still missing in their life. Me i'm an ordinary employee my salary is enough for all my expenses.Sometimes i can buy what i want but usually not.Like you i am happy for what i have and i guess the secret of happiness is CONTENTMENT...

Well said, as "the rich also cry" but "especially the poor cry"! I think there are many people who have a lot of money, perhaps materially lacks nothing, but all in all, they are not happy with their lives living!

Maybe 90percent out of 100percent are not contented and happy for their life because Life can never be absolutely happy. It can never be perfectly made.Sometimes it makes us cry and suffer. But it will make us stand and learn, that no matter how difficult it is, there always be many reason to live and smile.Just be grateful with simple things just like what you do.

You have my appreciations. You are less than 40 with many more years to go. You are 75% disabled. You manage within the monthly allowance you are getting. that is really good. do not worry about comments from others. You take works you can do by being in your house. You are good in spirituality, life style, philosophy--you can write articles. your idea of going out at 5 pm for an energy drink sounds nice. you can sit and watch people moving around. Area you not married?

Yes, contentment is a virtue. I'd be less than honest, if I said periodically I am not swayed towards desiring something expensive. But my common sense brings me back to reality. If I have too much, I am sure my relatives would step in and beat me up for that, make me their servant and offer me very little food. They've done in the past, so I can safely expect this behavior from them. So no, I dont want so much that it makes monetary sense to step into my home and beat me up. However, I dont want so little that I cant repay my loans, and obligations without much worry, and meet my expenses of food, clothing, shelter, medicine, and little bit of traveling may be. :) I dont think I want mansions for sure. Nor cars. Just an ordinary one suffices. My father on the other hand likes a lot of show. :) At times I feel guilty when he expresses his desires. Not being able to give him what he wants. However, the list is endless, so periodically I let myself off the guilt hook. :)

Well, at least have the right, which is the key to making a living rather dignified, I think this is a human right that all of us living beings deserve.

You have every reason to be happy for living such a simple life. You are content because what you have is enough for what you need. You don't long for more than what you have in life because you know your own limitation. The truth is, the more money one has, the more complicated life is. Thus, i truly understand why you are so content and happy with your life.

Yes, you're right. However, share the assumption that I have very little money because the state of my illness, I put obstacles in front of the world of work. So as you can easily understand, I do not work, inevitably less money. But is not that in the future I do not have the ability to get a job

Well, you know, I have chosen to be content with what I have, without asking for anything more, because even in the condition in which I find myself, I could not, at least at the moment, to do otherwise. I also have worked in the past in order. But my work experience, lasted only two and a half years. Then because of my problems, I got fired. You speak to me of the work online. I believe that, at least in my country (Italy), it is not yet widespread. But soon I think it will be our future. Let's hope so!

Someone told me a long time ago that the secret to being successful was knowing when to be content. I'm happy with my life. I've learned to live within my means, make do with what I have and be happy with any extras that come my way. It sounds like you have a similar outlook. To me if we don't have this mindset then we will end up angry, bitter people - miserable to ourselves and everyone around us. What would be the point in focusing on all that we don't have, or all that we might want or wish for? In the long run it is better for us to be happy with what we already have. This doesn't mean you can't have goals or expectations, but they have to be realistic. If I were to set a goal to have a giant house in a year that would only lead to being very disappointed and unhappy. I think you are a very realistic person with an excellent outlook.

Well, you wrote a comment that deserves the title of "best response", even if I do, though in principle not check to anyone, because I do not want to create resentment among the various commentators. You have been very good to find out exactly what I feel, or rather what I wanted to express in my discussion. In every way, I make you my compliments

You should at least be happy that you got a monthly allowance, I am depression and I can't work mostly all the times, so I spend time at home working online, and the money is less than you, not even enough to buy food, but I always be content because this is what God gives me, and I shall live with it no matter what. In future, if I am recover from this mental illness, I shall go for a job that is full time.

I think it's awesome that you are happy, some would be bitter. Actually I find people watching very fascinating and amusing at times. People are interesting to watch and try to figure out what they do or what they're thinking. I sometimes take a notebook with me when I people watch just to take notes and make up little stories about them when I get home. Who knows maybe one day I'll use the people I've watched as characters in a book someday. The simple life is the best in my opinion, less to stress over.

Yes, I agree! Above all, the simple life, also leads to a well-known Italian saying that says, "those who are content, enjoy." Of course, not all agree. However, there is also a group of people (maybe in the minority) who thinks so.

Hi, I can understand your feelings. You have to face many difficulties in your life due to your psychological problems. I want to tell you that my wife is disabled and she has difficulty in walking and doing many things. But she has very positive attitude towards life. She can not go outside the house and enjoy the outside fun. But she has decided to enjoy every moment of life in the house only. She keeps her engaged in tuition and doing some online job. Sometimes she encourages me in difficult situations. Thus you are right. We should be happy with whatever we have.

hey, Your life is going pretty better, though you don't have much but atleast your are not devoid of something, you have a computer, somebody don't even have that and when it comes to go to discount scores just to avoid little more cents, i guess there is nothing wrong with that and every normal could have this kind of life. Being unemployed could be a problem but now adays there are alot of ways to earn, like you can start writting, work as a free lancer, or you can start giving tutions. If you start finding reasons not to happy you will never be even if your are employed.

I am happy to know someone like you happy. I see a lot of people so bitter in their life and yet they are 100% able and have a nice job, Envious of other people not learning to appreciate their blessings. As been said " Life is how you make it" , so I believe you can be happy!

Well, as I explicitly pointed out in my discussion, if we are content also wat little one has (I mean in every sense), we can be happy, even if we are poor of money, or, as in my case even invalid. But to be clear, I do not I do certainly a source of pride to have a 75% of disability!

Yes happiness is what we preceive it. If you happy with what you have and what you're doing, that's happiness. Many people who have all those money and position are actually not happy. However...it's so nice to live in developed country when disabled people still have some allowance...in my place there are many disabled who forced to become beggars since there are no such thing here...But we still should be thankful at least we still alive and try to live to the fullest.

Well, you know you will not believe that I, being invalid I have a multitude of benefits. However, if I have this disease, it is definitely not my fault. I try to live my life, just trying happiness in everyday things. Can I take this example: work on Mylot, for me it's already a great satisfaction!

Some people are content with the simple life and as long as you are happy thats all that matters. I myself am disabled and have a low income, but that doesn't stop me from being happy and living life to the full. Life is what you make it, and you will get out of it what you put in.

Well, I am also disabled. Reason for which I can not get very high, or I will never stare goals unattainable. I still have to try to give the best of my ability that I still have available, in every sense. Let me give an example, I think I still have a chance of one day being hired to work for an indefinite period, in a place just for people with disabilities. By the way, right on the 19th of September, I have to submit to a call of this type of work!

I think it is so wonderful that you are happy with what you have. I feel that way too. People hear that for my family of 3 what our income from social security survivors benefits are like omg how can you live off that. I lived off $400 a month for a year that was tough. What I have now I can live with easily. I dont have car payments I have an old van I pay the bare minimum for insurance. I dont have rent or house payments. I live in this house with my kids my parents own the house and just pay the bills and any repairs. We dont buy expensive clothes but we are dressed nice. We dont eat expensive food but we have enough to eat. People can live off a lot less then they realize if they give up their luxuries. I am happy to be able to stay home with my kids while they are growing up.

Simple is better. I will not judge you for feeling happy. Good for you! I prefer to keep things simple too.
