Is Facebook loosing?

When Facebook was started, it was merely for connecting friends an attribute that can't be associated with it today. Today this Social Media has gone through a transformation into a marketing tool and also the worst promoter of adult graphics. The stressing thing is the fact that Facebook do not have a way of restricting its contents according age groups. In your opinion, do you think Facebook is loosing on this front? Are there things that you think they have ignored and which might turned out to be very detrimental to user?
