John Ingle was 84 when he died on Monday. He taught drama before becoming an actor in 1985. Besides playing Edward on General Hospital he was in numerous TV shows and several movies including Batman and Robin. He will be missed.

84...that's pretty GOOD. Yes, he will be missed. I used to watch General Hospital religiously back in the day, when I was just a little girl, but now a days--no more. Back then Edward was on GH on a daily basis, I don't watch the show enough now to know if he was still on it regularly or just making guest appearances like John Abbott does on Y and R, or not on the show at all, but like you said, he will be missed. I liked the Edward Quartermaine character, always good to have a feisty patriarch on a show.

And he was just on the show last week, in a wheel chair at the hospital. That is a shame. He is the third actor to play Edward. Louis someting started it, then went to another and then to this one. They all played the part really well. Edward was a fisty grouch and fun to watch. I wonder if they will have the character die or just not show him anymore and just mention him from time to time.

Although I haven't watched General Hospital in quite a few years I do remember this actor. He was a very good actor & even though his character was often a hateful person he was also at times quite funny. He will be missed by many, many fans.
