At my work they wwant you to promote items, and push them on the customers. Many time I refuse to do this, but I stand and watch them. Theyw ill lie about products, and say all these things to get them to sell them. If I went in a store, and the individual came running at me, and start pushing products on me I would walk out. Usually I know what I want or just looking around. If I need help I will ask for it. This is how I view it, and so when Im at work I try not to be too pushy. I will say hello, or ask if they need help if they say no. I will walk the other way and say if you need me just come find me.

Oh yes I hate pushy sales people I hated when they ask me if I need help and them keep bugging me which normally stops me from looking at things. i don't mind knowing what the latest sales are or if there is a promtion it's them trying to get my to buy things or get a stupid credit card. I did retail for 3 years and I hated when they told me I had to sell a credit cards and ask people all of the time. I liked telling people if they wanted to listen I could tell if they want or not. I always got good responses to free bounce cards but I never pushed it. I really don't miss working in retail.

The last retail job I had was working in a wear house which is a lot different then well working in my first real job. When I get asked for one I just walk away after I say No.

I hate working in retail, but sadly a lot of jobs are in it. I remember having to ask if they want this or that. I had one lady scream at me for 15 minutes if she wanted she would ask. If someone asks me and Walmart is the worse about the stupid credit cards I;ll quickly say no, and look around so they get the hint.

I do not like pushy people of any kind. No one likes to be pressured into doing anything they don't feel they are ready to do, and it only aggravates you when someone tries to do it.

I am the same way, but there are always someone who has this personality trait and try to push you to buy things.

With people like that you just have to let them know that you're not a child and 12 yr old style peer pressure techniques are not going to work. I don't encounter this issue with sales people, but with people trying to get me to eat or do something I am not interested in. It's truly annoying.

I tend to be like that at work, I dont like following people around. To me I would be annoyed if I was shopping and someone kept checking on me. I would just turn around and go somewhere else.

I cant stand a pushy sales person , whenever I go into a store and I see them coming I politely say I ma just looking . The thing that make it worse is when you need them they are away making small talk with friends .

I agree, they should be working not talking away with friends. I would stop when a customer came in the store, then continue when they leave.

I am the say way. I don't like pushy salesman and I wouldn't do it to other people. At my job, we don't have to be pushy, but we are still sales associates. So we have to sale things to them but we don't have to push items on them, thank God. I did use to have a job, were selling items was a requirement and it was over the phone. We had to try to get them to buy the items. I would not force them. I would ask them if they want the item and they said no, then I'd be like ok and close the call.

I could never do such a job, Im not a pushy type person either, so I wouldnt last at those type of jobs. I know my manager is very pushy, and trying to sell this or that lying about it. Many have said to us, that they refuse to shop there afterwards because of it.

Being pushy is something that seems to be encouraged for all sales people and it is something that I've never been good at. For example, when I was doing Tupperware direct sales, my manager encouraged us to upsell our customers and also make sure that they knew that they could use credit cards for their purchases. Now, I am a person that will only buy what I need and I haven't used credit cards in several years so this was something that I had a really hard time doing. No, being a pushy sales person is not for me.

Im the same way, I will ask once that is it, not hunt them down and shove it in their face until they buy it. My Manger was like this and many refuse to shop at our store because of her.

I don't mind a sale person suggesting items if they are in the same aisle as I am or if I walk into a store and they are giving out a sample. Otherwise, unless they are asking if I need help, I want to be left alone.

Hi friend, i am also in your sort, not interested in pushing the customers to buy our products or service, it is not a good thing to force others for our benefits and telling lies with them, but most of the sales persons are doing this kind of things and pushing others to buy their products which must be avoidable

It is so annoying!! I believe a person will approach a salesperson when they need help. It is the pushy ones that make it unbearable. I don't mind someone asking once if I need help but following and having five different people approach is nerve racking. OAN I hate going into restaurants where the employees are told to greet every customer that walks in the door(Like QuikTrip gas station). As soon as you walk in about eight people are like good morning, good morning, good morning. Irksome!!!

Some sales people are not properly trained and they do actually harm the image of the products they try to sale. I have come across a lot of pushy sales people who have never been able to sell anything to me because of their lack of commonsense needed to apply.

I don't like pushy person, whether he/she a sales people or not. I like your attitude, I am a person who wouldn't like to be bother when shopping around. I only ask for sales clerk if needed.

I can't stand them, the more pushy they are, the more I'd like to avoid them. Although I do understand that they do it to sell something, it's their work and job to sell something but I still can't really stand it.

Absolutely hate those types! Having worked in retail I tried to be the type of sales assistant I would like to see when I walk into a store as a potential customer. So I would say hi and ask if they needed any assistance if they were looking around, and then just leave them alone if not. It's quite annoying when they're pushy to a great extent. If I wasn't planning on purchasing something the salesperson's attitude is not going to change anything, and if I was planning on purchasing something their attitude would not change much either, except perhaps make me feel annoyed about having had to deal with them.

I don't like pushy sales lady at the mall or those sales ladies who goes to you immediately even if you didn't ask for assistance. I get conscious when someone is watching me browse the racks. I don't know but I'm just like that.

I'm always suspicious of too pushy sales people.Because when they are so pushy you can feel that they dont really mean to help me rather than finish their own job.If the company really want to prmote some products they should do more study and target their potential customer more specifically.Instead, they simply push the items to everyone, hoping to hit some of them. That's really annoying.

I don't like pushy sales people too, like the ones you mention :/ And there's also those sales people who follow you around and watch everything you do, seriously. I don't really know why they do this, but I can't help feeling like they're more a hindrance than a help, plus I feel like they think I might take something without paying for it :/ When this happens, I usually just go away without buying anything, and go to another shop which sells the same products.

I think a clever sales person would observe and judge what type is a customer. Some customers like to look over the products by themselves, some want you give them introductions and advices. The key to the matters is whether you can find out what the costomers need from sales people. Customers always like the sales people who are considerate but not pushy.

As another sales person to another. Sometimes the job is just straight commission so the sales person has to be pushy just to earn a living. Yes it can be scummy but some people are just good at it. Plus if you just let them mingle and let them come to you then it shows the customers that the employees don't believe in the product so why should they believe in the product. They'll just window shop and not buy from the company. When a sales person pushes it helps guide a customer into looking more into the company and product. Some customers don't know what they think about certain products and don't know enough so need to know "every positive detail" from sales agent/rep so they can have someone tell them and they don't have to decide themselves. Yes sales is an unfortunate career to get into but like I've said, some people are just good at it.
