Do you think people prefer facebook over personal relations

Even though I heard about such a notion, this thing struck me when I heard about my friend's friend whose personal relationship with his wife got strained because of facebook. I think social networks in a way are becoming a reason for many divorces these days. Do share your views on the same.

YES. I agree. I have long claimed that I believe facebook has destroyed more of my friendships than it has created or helped me to gain. I left Facebook several months ago. I'm just sick of it, it's a waste of time and energy for something that I believe is ultimately more harmful to my relationships. I don't know about it being the cause of increased divorce rates, but I really wouldn't put it past facebook. I don't think it's a good tool for communication. As an old teacher of mine used to say, "Sure, technology brings us together. I can talk to someone in China and ignore my own kid."
