Are the medias in our time controlled by the super rich and powerful elite?

I attended a talk about a very important history of my country two days ago. During the talk, I came to know that many news reported by established newspaper publishers were not true. It is mind boggling to know that most of the medias are being controlled by the very rich and powerful elite. Many stories are distorted and many good people, usually politicians who want to fight for their people's right, who also have no choice but to oppose the government are portrayed as really bad people. For the elite, getting rid of the people that become the stumbling block to their plan is just a matter of snapping their fingers. I think, people who are involved in politics can be very vulnerable. There are many stories of politicians and people who are close to them, murdered and their cause of death are usually reported as accidental or due to a certain sickness. What do you think mylotters? Do you think ordinary people like us when we unite ourselves, can fight against all the lies spread by irresponsible media publishers?

There are so many irresponsible media publishers and so few people who believe the truth about them that I doubt if we could do anything at all. So many people believe everything they see, hear and read that it's appalling. And you have the people that don't believe the truth even when it's shoved in their face. No, I don't believe anything can be done. The rich and powerful are just that - powerful. How powerful are a hand full of ordinary citizens like us? Not very. And yes, it's a very depressing attitude I have. I'm older and I've seen things continue to go from bad to worse for many years now. If things start to get better it won't happen in my lifetime. The only time I read any good news is here in mylot, when people talk about something nice somebody did or said. The world is going to hell real fast.

It is nice and very comforting of you to say that "the only time you hear good news is here". I absolutely agree with you deazil! Here in mylot, we comfort, encourage each other and share insights about many things, that's why it is one of the best communities in the world! Well, we may not be able to stop the irresponsible media publishers from spreading lies and manipulating the minds of many readers, but we can do something, we can do a little bit. Although our efforts might not be significant enough for the world to notice us, we, at least, can do that much. What do you think?

You are optimistic. That's a good thing. I think you may be young. At least not yet 45. I'm old and tired but I like your attitude and your optimism. I feel you are a good person. What type of "something" do you think we can do? It would be interesting to hear your ideas. Your attitude has made a slight lift in my mind. I feel a few degrees better. And thank you for commenting. I do appreciate it. So many mylotters never do anymore.

Thank you deazil for your kind words and for taking the time to reply. I am still new in mylot, so I guess I am still highly enthusiatic when it comes to posting and replying. I am not sure what my story will be like in a few months time or when I've reached my few hundreds postings.*wink wink* I am not so young and not so old but I can relate when you said that you are tired...yes, the way the world is being run at the moment by the super rich and powerful is really scary. Because they are powerful and have all the money in this world, they can influence and manipulate any leaders of any countries, they might also be the people behind the rise and fall of the global economy. It is really scary, only God can stop them from continuing their evil works. Anyway, let's think it this way, if you can share the truth to only one person and this one person shares to another and another...Happy mylotting deazil!

I'm afraid we live in a rather dirty world, all's fair in love and war' and some newspapers and magazines have that as a motto. Unfotunately poeple like that extra nasty twist. I used to believe that newspapers were written by altruistic people but so much has come out in the last decade that I know this is untrue. It is shameful that people's lives get ruined by lies, that politicians and newspaper editors and publishers can look into the camera and lie their heads off. Fortunately some reporters do dig deep and find out about some of these alliances between the super rich and the powerful elite. It is sickening to think that money can buy lies or 'misinformation' as they call it. We have seen our countries go to war and young men and women die as a result of war caused by a cover up of the truth. We must hope that brave people will continue to expose corrupt rich and powerful ones. I don't think we can do much except avoid buying newspapers and magazines that invent stories about people in order to get a larger readership.

Those who are courageous enough to reveal/ report the truth will usually have to face the consequences. This is what the real world is like. Good, caring and responsible citizens will be 'blocked' by these super liars, greedy, power-thirsty and crazy people. I have stopped buying daily newspaper and watched television a long time ago. I buy newspaper only when it's really necessary.
