Tonight I am cooking Spaghetti with meatballs, and garlic bread. Our family actually has spaghetti several nights a month. Its super easy and quick to make, plus everyone loves spaghetti! When I'm in a rush to get dinner on the table this is a great meal. I'm curious how others prepare their spaghetti?

My husband is famous in our family for his meatball spaghetti. While I prefer seafood pasta, or spaghetti with white sauce (sort of like a distant cousin of the carbonarra). We also used to have pasta or spaghetti at least once a week, but now that I am trying to lose some weight, this tradition has to stop for a while, lol!

Pasta isn't great to have a lot if you're dieting, I agree. My boyfriend always teases me that I'm trying to fatten him up with my cooking (his belly isn't quite as flat as it used to be, lol). If I'm trying to lose a little weight I'll eat something already prepared instead of actual dinner. The pre-cooked & cut grilled chicken is really yummy. I love salads but just discovered I'm allergic to lettuce, so no more salads for me lol. Good luck reaching your weight loss goals!

well, how about you? how do you make your spaghetti? for me, we used to boil noodles first then make our sauce by having some onions ang garlic, spaghetti sauce of our own choice, plus the hotdogs and ground pork. it does require much time, isn't it? if we would have something to cook fast, it would be just egg with tomatoes and onions and garlic.like an omelet... but we only cook those for breakfast. lunch and dinner should be big meal.

I use the store bought sauce as well, just because it is so much quicker. I add seasoning, sugar, onions, mushrooms, and diced tomato. I also add meatballs, or sometimes ground hamburger. Sometimes if its a hot day, I'll mix everything up in the slow cooker with the meatballs...which also makes an awesome meatball sandwich! I've never tried spaghetti with hot dogs and ground pork. Seems interesting, but I'd have to leave the pork out because I'm allergic to it. I have a big family, and evenings are always busy with homework, dinner, family time, and getting ready for bed. So I always try to find yummy meals that everyone loves and don't take up too much time. The eggs sound good too...I love omelettes! Do you ever do the "breakfast for dinner"? That's another favorite around here...with cheese omelettes, pancakes, and bacon. The kids really love that too!

My girlfriend makes her own sauce. She puts in the usual, tomato paste, sauce, onions and one other thing: ketchup. It gives it that extra zing. And she keeps the spaghetti and sauce separate - we mix it when we put it on our plate. That way, each person can choose how much or little they want.

I have never had spaghetti with ketchup in it...my kids would probably like that. I'm not a big ketchup fan though...I actually only eat (and like)ketchup on my McDonald cheeseburgers lol (weird, I know, my mom is the same way). We do keep the pasta and the sauce seperate, it just tastes better that way. :)
