I got fed up with one of my colleagues? Yes I am working in a bank’s IT department and soft spoken person. I care if someone feels bad due to anything I do. But there is a boy on the same post, he is very rude. He does not work much but shows a lot. He talks very rudely and due to this we have become somewhat envy. What should I do now in this state?

The worst thing you can do to someone is ignore that person. We already do that with little kids who behave badly. It's typicall a male thing to show off, to work less but to pretend they are the hardest workers on earth. An interesting thing about this is that these kind of people make carreer at first. There are books written about this subject. You (as a woman) can learn a lot if it comes to pretending. Being rude is a way to make people aware of the presence (I guess he is already not the most favourite collegue). I don't think it will help to tell him he is rude, so ignore! If he ever asks why you ignore him tell him that is the way you raise little kids! Good behaviour one should reward, not bad behaviour.

Well, if this animosity at work is already affecting your job and it cannot be resolved, maybe you can request for a transfer or a change in duties so that the two of you won't have the same responsibilities. But if this is something that is just a petty office case of rivalry and jealousy, maybe you two can be civil and mature adults to sit down and talk your issues about your job. You don't have to be the best of friends, you are just there to work and not to socialize. If it wil help, you may request your manager or supervisor or the HR to mediate the talk and make it official.

The best way is to just ignore him and do the best that you can. We can not do anything on how that person is. Just strive to do your job well and let him do his thing. One day, he'll just fall because of his attitude.

Is he being rude to customers? You might ask your boss to ask your colleague to treat the customers better. Other than that, just keep providing your shining example of perfect behavior.

what is your job there? Is it related to database management? Also is it an Oracle database? Well I just wanted to know because me myself is an IT as well. Ok back to your topic, it is important that you keep yourself professional as much as you can and ignore this person and continue to work hard. But if you really want to be recognized you also need to get involved so that you can be promoted.

What you could do is go to a superior. Thats pretty much what i did a few years ago. Somehow the guy still didnt behave properly so he got fired. Those who are an nuisance to others and are unable to do their jobs correctly have no right to have that job. There is always someone else who is dieing to have a job and are willing to work like horses.

I think most people have had a disagreement with someone at work for whatever reason. If someone is not working as well as someone else and it's starting to annoy other workers then something should be said.

if he is rude, so can you. don't think that you should change the branch but you have to fight this on your own. He is on the same post as you and not something higher than you. i guess you should also try to be what he does because you have to be rude to rude people. They can't affect your work like this because work is your bread and butter. stand strong and see he is going to give up on what he is doing. Remember no one is better than you. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.
