So I just saw on the internet there could be a shortage of diapers due to some explosion in a Japanese plant. Maybe I will get to experience using cloth diapers!

Diapers are a luxury but not a necesarily a necessity..We buy diapers because we don't want to wash dirty cloths all the time..It is more affordable to use cloth diapers..I was on cloth diapers when i was a baby and i don't know if my mom ever had the luxury to use disposable diapers on me..

You mean the big brands like Pampers, huggies? Why does it have to do with the Japanese explosion though...

I guess the plant makes one of the main ingredients used in most diapers

Wow that will mean that the diapers there are out will be very expensive. My son thankfully only wears them at night now. He goes a few days staying dry but unfortunately not every night. I did cloth diapers on my daughter until she was 2 1/2 then disposables after that. My son I did cloth diapers until he was around 3 or 3 1/2 and then am still doing disposables at 5 years old.
