Inspite of winning 4 out of 5 matches, Indian team is out of semis. What a poor rule by ICC ?

It is not a poor rule. It is some bad game plan. I have my doubts if the Pak Vs Aus match yesterday was purely cricket. That said, I am not against Pak or even Aus for that matter. I would only say, the Indian Team and selectors need to do a lot of thinking. Rules are same for all and so you cannot be blaming rules. Instead, what I felt yesterday was that India didnt play that great. When you are playing against a team like SA, you definitely need to add more to the score (152 was not enough a score against SA at the first place as India did know they would need a margin of 31 runs to be through) so they should have batted well. GG and Shewag and even Virat failed to deliver their best... and in such crucial matches the top order has to perform or be there on the benches and not on the Pitch... Time selectors and Decision makers thought about this.

Hi sidhu, Exactly my opinion. When Indian team was aware the situation before them, they didn't play up to the mark. From the way they played with South Africa, I observed that they played carelessly. Besides, my doubts on Match fixing is growing strong, not only in this T20 world cup, in all the tournaments all over the world. It's not worth wasting our time watching it.

These days, I do have given up watching cricket. I only watch select matches. I loved the India vs Pak and then SA is one team which has been my favorite since the days it re-started playing world championships. The days of Cornje and his team - I believe that was the best SA team and it should have won the WC too... unfortunate that things were rigged and exposed. But still, it was worth a team and it still is - kallis one of the unsung masters of the game, Amla who is so very down to earth - he even didnt take any credit when he scored those centuries. They are much better than we Indians so what there were many dropped catches yesterday

Well my dear friend after the match first question which was put to Dhoni by commentator that how is ur feeling and after that is format ok for you. Dhoni simply said we have done our best and did not blame the format or anyone. All he said that we needed to be consistent in all departments all the time to win matches. Which it did not happen, so, he said this is the area which India is behind. So, the blaming of format is we fans and media are doing. I agree with you that 152 was not good enough, 170 would have been a great total which India put on against England. I personally feel that Gambhir and Sehwag should have opened the innings in all the matches. But suddenly in the middle of major tournament Dhoni and management dropped Sehwag that too against Australia was the worst decision and for which they are blaming the climate, that match should have lost with some fight but it went other way. I feel sorry for Rehane and Manoj Tiwary that they did not get chance to play against a team like Afganisthan. Anyhow Team India performed better in this World Cup than the last ICC T20 World cup.

Of course, the format can be improved. I would actually like the T20 tournament to be like the Champions Trophy of old, each match a knockout. But to be fair, this format was known to the teams before the tournament began, so no use crying over spilt milk. Cheers! Ram

The format is pathetic and I am not saying because India lost. Let me explain, Australia was dominating all the matches they played. They beat India and SA in such way that both the matches were one sided. Pakistan batting was average compared to that of India and SA but still they managed somehow against Australia. Australia batted so poorly to boost the run rate of Pakistan and even taken care to remain in the top of the table. India and SA are evenly matched and never it will be a one sided affair. As expected the match was close one and India won narrowly. If Australia played a better cricket then Pakistan might not have won so comprehensively as they did now. Super eight should have been a round robin type and the top 4 will go to semis but I guess time will not permit and it will be tough to organise a tournament so long. So, this is format which ICC will put and it is luck which needed or win all the matches without losing in the only mantra.

Whether too was very unpredictable in Sri Lanka. West Indies was the team which got stuck up with whether. They are the only team which put a 190 plus total on the board against Australia. I wish they win the semis against Australia. Let Australia bad batting performance continue against WI..

I agree with you dear. It should have been a round robin but we all know the time crunch. But then, they can always have 3 or even 4 matches each day as against the only 2 per day as the total number of overs bowled would still be less than 100 (the normal 50 over one day matches) for any team.

I do not see it a result of any poor rule. If India had been through, nobody would have talked about rules. Its just that India lost badly to Aussies, and did not win by enough margin against South Africa. Overall, I think India played well, but the margin of error in any world cup, whether T-20 or ODI is not much. So, in true sports spirit, we must not despair and look towards the future. But yes, we still need to improve our bowling a bit.
