Hi Friends, One of the cricketers who have failed in the recent T20 World cup,is Virender Shewag. His form has been really poor. After his double century at ODI,I don't remember any special innings from him.Due to his failure ,it has put a lot of pressure on the middle order batsmen.Virat Kohli has been performing well since Shewag's struggling form. His form is over shadowed by the brilliant performances of the middle order. Many people criticized Dhoni for leaving him out of the first super eight match.I think that was the right move.Pathan came up the order and scored 30 odd runs but it ended in failure due to Gambhir's poor batting.Even after Shewag's return there was no improvement. It resulted in India's disappointing batting performance. If he had scored well ,definitely India would have reached 180.I need to criticize those who criticized Dhoni for leaving out Shewag. It is most of the Pakistani players who supported him since they need to enter the semis. He needs to think maybe about his retirement!

Sehwag has not hit a overseas century since 2008, he has failed in every test series since India's tour of SA which was in 2011.But he has huge fan following and his fan-boys don't like his criticism.Sorry state of Indian cricket is that solid players like Rahane,Bisht, Mandeep Singh,Mukund,Chand,Manoj Tiwari who have been performing well in India A tours ,U-19 level and domestic competition are just warming benches because the royal batsman has his placed reserved in Indian team.I made same comments in a cricket forum through my Facebook account,i got around 15-20 hate messages from his fanboys,he is a superstar ,stats doesn't matter when you are talking about Sehwag, or do they? only time will tell.

I feel that the selectors should be consistent. Yes, established players should be given a few chances more at times. However, the selection should always be based on current performance and not on fan following always.

just before the world cup,a certain guy by the name Sehwag said in an interview that he wants to try to play the entire 50 overs.i for one did not believed it. then he does it against bangladesh scoring a double hundred. from then on,nothing. probably that guy was satisfied with just one knock to prove to himself that he can bat 50 overs. time to learn from the other right hand opener who put such a high price on his wicket that he plays for more than half of the match. such a pity. guess he wil be the next afridi then.

Yes, Sehwag is going through a lean phase. I think he should retire from T20s and concentrate on the 50 over and the test match variants. I think he is more effective in these two formats where he can take a bit more time and the fields are more attacking and gives him more chance to attack. Cheers! Ram

Hi sami, I think you are totally wrong. Its true that sehawag failed in many events but problem is the India don't have other opening batsman with gambhir, and Move to Irfan Pathan as a opener is worst decision by ever, he hit 30 runs once but for it , he waste many bowls and his shot selection was very poor, he did not play like batsman even he make pressure on team also because of his bating style and waste of power play. Irfan is good player for T-20 or one day team as a bowler and 8th number batsman who can score at this number when india team need. Its a normal thing to think that a bowler is playing 40 balls in start but a regular batsmen who comes at number 4-5 , they don't have bowls remain to make score. Like this can do in 1-2 match but you cant long time, you have to open with a regular opening pair. I think now indian medial order flop, I cant understand why rohit sharma in team ? he is one player in team who don't know any thing batting or bowling, he is in team just because of Dhoni like him, now in indian team has only one palyer Virhat kholi, he is only one player in Indian team, other 10 just for stand to complete 11 Players in team which is necessary to play a team in any international match.

To retire or not is his choice entirely. I believe that his eye-hand co-ordination is now deteriorating with age. Also, that he has lost the support of his captain is no hidden matter anymore. He needs to probably just change his batting a little bit to suit his age. Also, it is never easy to get back from an injury and perform straight away. However I would disagree with you in saying that Dhoni was entirely right in making him sit out during a game. Remember, players like Gayle and Sehwag are rare. Their mere presence at the crease sends shivers down the spine of the opposition. Being a part of the squad and not being in the playing eleven just not justify his inclusion in the squad. He is too great a player for that. Having said that, I hope he comes back to form in the coming home series. Else, he should seriously consider at lease quitting T20s and One-Days at the least.

I don't know what's the problem of these Indian batsman like Virendra Sehwag,Gautam Gambhir,Rohit Sharma etc. They played very well in this year's IPL but failed to perform in WC.

May be, it is time for Sehwag to concentrate on ODIs and Test matches, and leave T-20. However, he should be replaced if his poor form continues as is the case for other players too. Yet, I do not think that he cannot make a great comeback to form.

Sehwag has indeed not been delivering the good for which he is known. There is no doubt that he relies more on his luck than his abilities. A wild shot may go for a huge six or even nick it down to the wicketkeeper. There is nothing one can perfectly say about Viru. There is the least doubt about his abilities and he certainly is a world class player. However, luck has always evaded him. Well, we are now speaking about Viru should concentrate on ODIs. But even in the finals of the World Cup last year again Sri Lanka, he was out for a duck. So, I don't think it is the form of cricket he needs to concentrate on. Playing an attacking game is his nature otherwise he would not have danced down the crease to pull of a huge six when batting on 295 runs against Pakistan. The record of becoming the first Indian to reach the 300 run mark in Tests could not have been in his mind otherwise he would never have taken the risk. Such players like Sehwag need a lot of luck with them. And when luck is on their side, they have the ability to create records. History is re-written at such times. So, instead of criticizing him for his poor form, which he is going through, let's support him.

Whoa! You already seemed to have made up your mind sami - he needs to think maybe about his retirement Wait. I dont know much, but then Sehwag has never been a player for T20. I have watched him play IPL and other T20 matches too. And you would definitely agree that T20 is not for all players. That said, during this WC t20, he was also not much seen on the Nets. Reason can be anthing as Kul above says the Ankle injury or even the desire not to play T20. But then, it is all a mix of Politics and Pressure. Maybe Sehwag wasnt willing to play for this series but was forced to play for reasons best known to him and management. Dhonis decisions to change the batting order on most occasions have failed (barring a few when things fell right for that day). I dont blame anyone for this Series because of a simple reason - I am not a big Indian Cricket fan as many others here, still, I feel bad when people frame opinions which change every series.

When Captain's eyes are suspiciously following a player is losing a big factor of motivation. Whenever Sewhag explosive style worked India had attained good results. So he should be given motivation if he feel friction.
