Do you think the world is pushing everyone to be so perfect or perfectionism? Lots of people now are going to salons so that their hair always look fresh, but what if I just let my hair the natural way it is? Lots of people desire to have the latest gadgets so as for them to be labeled as "cool"? Lots of people would spend a lot to make their skin lighter. Lots of people need to have amazing facebook account coz if you don't have a facebook account you simply don't exist? Is the world makes us all feel insecure, highly insecure of ourselves? I guess if we all follow the standards, cravings, madness of this world it would make us in the end hate more and more of ourselves because the world demands us to be not ourselves. There is a great freedom if we are free to be ourselves. If people can unconditionally accept us for whatever we are then that is an effortless love. However, there are people that we already do whatever we can but still shouts to our ears--NOT APPROVE! then why be affected, it is not my problem- it is their problem.

I have a song on my ipod by a Christian singer called Free to be Me sung by Fransesca Bettistelli. I love that song.

we must do what we want to do,however, there is a price to pay, sometimes we are called weird, or laughed at, or shunned because we choice to make our way in life and not be dictated by the latest fashions.

That is the price really. Be ready to be shunned, laughed at called weird, freak, nerd, jerk everything they want to say. For me I follow the trend that I can follow but those that is no longer practical or is entirely impossible I just leave it as it is. Of course we do need to exert some effort to be included in the mainstream of life but I guess we are free to choose which one we will buy or we want to apply or is a necessity. Basically, some trends are a necessity and others are just pure luxury, we can live without.

Hi averygirl, Yes, we should all be free to be ourselves. Wouldn't it be great if everyone thought that way? Blessings.

Yes, finally I came to that realization. No need to push my self, just be me.

I am wondering how many people really gone to the salon having their hairs done actually look fresher than natural after the visit, because most of the time, they just looked so fake and stiff after each visit, a distance far away from being perfect. It is good to know you are free to be yourself without the need of hair salon to make you free.

Yeah, and a lot of girls there waste a fortune of their money to get that fabulous hair that months later will turn back to their old frizzy hairs. If they have problems with my hair then they should give me a gift certificate for salon or give me some hair conditioners. If they can't stand my hair, then they just close their eyes.

I believe that everyone has the right to feel free to be themselves. Personally, I refuse to go by the standard norms of society. It's important for people to be able to express themselves in their own unique ways.

Going against the norms of the society, going against the grain. It is difficult but possible, thanks.

You don't exist if you don't have a Facebook account? Oh my! I'm glad I have one then so I can be assured that I DO exist. . Honestly, I'd rather be me than spend bookoos of money to try and impress people. I am who I am and if that makes me sociay unacceptable, it's not my problem. It's the ones who look down on me for being real who have the problem.

I am who I am, right. As for me I don't have facebook but I am still alive and doing well unlike the demand of this generation that you need to have a Facebook account or ur simply out of this world. Yeah just let those people who look down on us, never really interested to please them anyway.

i find that too be cool, you have to have not only the latest gadget, but the latest fashion or the newest brand names but i choose not to. it is all about being happy with what you have and who you are that counts. if you worry about what people think of you, then you will never be happy. the key is not to care what others think about you and do your own thing and be your own person.

Well that is right, if you not worry about what people think of you, they you will be happy but if you start to worry to think about all they have to say then you will be unhappy. thanks

i felt unfree and crazy about what i strived after once in a while. but that's because i was tired, i need to have a rest for a moment. then i relaxed a coulpe of days.i just went out and did what really interested me (maybe it's not approved, anyway) . what i want to say is that you are what you are, and how's your life is absolutly up to you. you want to be free, do it; you want to fulfill your dreams,do it. there is no problem as long as you don't care indeed

I think there is a lot of emphasis on the way you, what type of house you own, the type of car you drive, clothes you wear, etc. I like to look nice and that helps everyone with their self esteem. But that doesn't mean I should go to the salon every week or go by the newest fashions every time something comes out.

Right Dominique we put a lot of emphasis on what we own, where we live, what we have and it is not bad to really look nice to build our self-esteem. By the society's standard if you have all the nicest, choicest, latest things then you are IN and all those who cannot catch up are OUT. But it is not easy for anyone to catch up so the solution is just be happy and content.

To have the latest tools has nothing to do with being perfect. But I do think that society plus governement love to control people and do push them way too much into directions they don't like (also without knowing it). For example our government telling the people economics is not that bad.. this way forcing people to spend their savings on stuff they can't afford. Banks play that game too, incl. students so there are more and more debts and people, even whole families end up on the streets. I don't believe that not having the newest tools means you will be kicked out of society. I know plenty of people who are not willing to let themselves dragged into this, they have a lot of self esteem and everybody is respecting them. No matter if they are fancy dressed or whatever. They also don't need to make lame excuses why they are not buying the latest cellphone every 3 months or have a 3d-television or a new car every year. I think it all has to do with self esteem. If you don't need expensive tools to show off, if you are someone already (by behaviour and attitude) you are way more free as when you have to force yourself in all kind of directions to belong to the group. Ofcourse you can blame society, commercials, etc but in the end you are in charge. It's you who has to decide but also you who has to pay the bill!

That is right there are people who does not really like to dragged themselves to all of these and has freedom to live the way they wanted to. Self-esteem is important, we can blame the society but in the end we are still in charge.

Hey thanks a ton for posting such a nice discussion. Well u are absolutely right, in the wake of getting an identity and recognition among the crowd of millions, people are resorting to those things in the process of which they are loosing out their own self and identity. They do not believe that what they naturally is the one that can make them distinct and different from others. there is no need of any artificial means but the natural ones are the sufficient ones. What say?

Hey that is true, so many artificial means that we lose the natural importance we have. This world is driving us mad.
