I have problems getting off to sleep for no reason other than pain and then when I wake up its due to pain and can not get off to sleep again.I lay there thinking maybe one night I can go off to bed and go straight to sleep and sleep for more than a few hours at a time. I kept going to sleep during the day, as I felt worn out, but it got to the stage that I would just lay down rather than go to sleep.

then maybe you should have yourself checked up when you feel pain frequently

It is horrible when we don't sleep very well, and you have to try very hard to get yourself out of the situation. One of the most important things to do is to make sure that you get yourself into a regular routine. You should find a way of relaxing for an hour before you go to bed, and do something such as read a book. This would help your brain to switch off. You should not use your computer. If you wake up in the night and can't sleep, you should try picking up your book again as this should make you tired. Tossing and turning will only make you more stressed and will mean that you would not be able to sleep for even longer.

thank you very much ,gemma. i hope reading a book before go to bed can works for me, but unluckily, it doesn't. the problem is that i don't know how to calm myself down and get rid of thinking the troublesome again and again unless i straighten out my thinking

It's really hard to get a good night's sleep when something's bothering us. We just need to learn a way to sort of block those thoughts when we're about to sleep. Some prefer meditation, others pray, some do light exercises or watch fun, wholesome shows on TV before they sleep - anything to help keep their minds at peace. Your worries are not unfounded. I mean, there's a possibility that you might get used to this situation if you don't look for ways to prevent it from becoming habitual.

it's so sweet of you. i understand the truth. but i just can not help myself to think over the unhappy thing happened during the daytime. i can not have an easy mentality unless i can straighten out my thinking. it's stupid, right?

Hi sarah! Before I would go to bed I would clear my mind of everything for me to have a good night sleep. But there are really times that no matter how I tried to relax after a day's work, still my mind keeps on wandering that would cause me to sleep very late already. This thing would happen whenever I am worrying about something.

hi, aries, you have done a good job! anywhere, you have the consciousness and perseverance to do something for a good sleep. it's will become a good habit and then you will know how to be happy the time you get bed at night, even though there are something bother you at the daytime.

Same with me. when something bothered me, I cannot sleep although I can sleep the next day because of tired. I think it's because I tended to focus on my emotions and anxiety during the high-stress period. Although I know sometimes sleep can help you regulate your nervousness and offer you an escape from stress, particularly when there's nothing you can do about it....For me the trouble of sleeping due to stress will last for 1 or 2 days and I can sleep better after that.

but when we don't sleep well frequently, we may be unhealthy later. so good sleep is really important to us. though i understand this nature, i can not avoid the problem. only when the unhappy thing get solved, i can have a sureness sleep. maybe we should get rid of the custom, for our health.

Well at least you did get some sleep but its to bad it wasent a better nights sleep. When I am upset about something I have a really hard time sleeping as well its awful. If I dont get a good nights sleep I will be grouchy and miserable the next day.

I am this way also. As was my mother before me. Worrying and fretting and all is not good for us. Once we get fatigued we will probably sleep. What I don't care for is the off hours that I sleep. And if there is any activity in the house it makes it difficult too.

yes, we always know the nature, but we can not perform well.maybe that's the nature also. the most important thing is that we can realize that's is a problem, and we should do something to lead a happy and healthy life

I've had that same problem earlier this week. I was tossing and turning in bed, and was restless, because something was bothering me. But finally, sleep came to me about one or two hours before I had to get up that morning for my appointment.

This is expected especially if we are being troubled by lots of things that concerns us. We remain up for hours because we cannot calm our minds. It is best to relax and calm down hours before bed time. A hot cup of milk and a hot shower might help.
