Can you live without a mobile phone?

I did! I mean, well... I did survived. My mobile phone was accidentally dropped by my 2-year old son. And when it reached the floor, the battery jumped away from the unit as well as the cover... It was not its first fall actually. But it was the first time that when I assembled them again, the network did not connect. So it happened last Friday night. Saturday came, but I never got the time to go out. It was our helper's wash day so I'm in charge of my babies. Afternoon came, but I felt too lazy to go out just to imagine to travel 8-9km from our house to downtown. My husband was out after a half-day work, attending his regular Saturday basketball practice. When he arrived we immediately prepared the kids because we are attending a birthday party. Here comes Sunday. I thought to myself, I'll just have it repaired after we go to Church. So we did... When I reached the customer service of Samsung, the customer representative told me that their technician is not available. Oh my... This morning I thought of going to a mall nearer at our office and leave it during lunch time and claim it after office tonight. So off I went. Maybe it was not really my lucky day... The outlet in that mall has no repair service. So I have to wait for tonight again to go back to the other outlet I visited yesterday. And I realized, I can do without my phone... But maybe because it's weekend and no work-related calls were expected. Or rather because I didn't know because I didn't received anything But I missed my phone... and I missed my mobile facebook too... I hope it can already be repaired tonight... please...?

Hi, Life goes on without my mobile. Its been two years since I loaded up on my SIM card and I haven't used my phone except to take calls. I even go out without it and I can still function normally, with less hassles from incoming calls, requests for this and that. I find it a lot more easy to work without interruptions from phone calls. They can always go to my place if they want something, that is, if I am around.

i've known for one or two who has no obsession for mobile phones. maybe it's because we have different situations. when I was still single, we have a landline at home, so I'm confident enough that whoever needs me, may contact me there. and when I am in the office, I also have landline... But now that I'm married, and living a little far from the city life, mobile phones are important for me. to help me communicate with my mom, brothers, family and friends.

I got my phone broken for more than a month now and I could only use it for phone calls Though, I think I would survive it especially if I'm not waiting for Antibes text message..,

hmmm... i salute you that you have survived without it. I may also do it but it's just that all communications are already dependent on my phone. When I was still single we have a landline at my mom's home (and it's still active actually), so it's not difficult to have no cellphone. But nowadays, especially that we live well at least a little far from my mom, mobile phones are important to us...

First off I hope your phone can be fixed or you can get a replacement soon.. It sucks when you do not have a cell phone.. Yes it is hard to think that a little piece of metal with some wires is so important these days... Six months ago I wouldnt be able to live without my phone for more then an hour... Now that my life has changed I could... Just would never want to... Its so convenient everything in a little spot... which is portable too... On top of that GPS is wonderful well when it works..lol So no not really have to have my phone, espeically when I make long trips with my kids...

Yeah thanks. I do also hope this can be done tonight. Convenience that's the word! Even my mobile phone is not really that high-end, but it helps me a lot. It has its own dictionary, some applications which can also help me in many other things... and most especially, the mobile FB. I've been absent for 3 days already. I'm afraid I might be dropped out.

It will be very inconvenient, but, yes I know I can live without a mobile phone. I mean just some years ago not everyone had a phone, but people survived. I hope you get your phone repaired soon.

I also was already an adult then, when I got my job 14 years ago and have no cell phone at all. But I did survived. Well maybe because my friends doesn't have one too. but nowadays, you won't have peace of mind thinking who might be calling you or sending you an important message, but I can't receive anything. My mom told me just a while ago that my best friend was admitted at the hospital yesterday due to miscarriage. And she was trying to contact me to ask the name of my ob gyne. Good that she called my mom instead and good that my mom knows the name of my doctor so she told her. If only my phone was ok, I may be able to contribute anything. Maybe not by saving the baby, but at least to give comfort to my friend. I felt guilty I was not there when she needed me...

I do believe t6hat I can live without a mobile phone. I did not live without one for about two months. It was hard and very frustrating sometimes but I had to do it to prove that I can do it. I have to go look for a phone to call someone or just borrow my boyfriend's phone or some of my friends' phone. I think that we all get so dependent on technology that we seem to can't live without it but we actually can.

It's true... I'm starting to feel frustrated now. but not that much. well, i did survived when I first had my job 14 years ago. Mobile phones are still very expensive that time. And I think there were no prepaid lines yet. But I endured life without having one... maybe it's just different now because I already got used to have it.

I would be lost without my cell! I've broken mine before too, but luckily we had an extra T-mobile phone that I could switch my SIM card until I got a new one. I'm always on my phone for whatever...texting, games, facebook, whatever I need it for. I'm sure I could physically LIVE without it, but it would be hard. It's weird how dependent we are on technology.

It even came to my mind to buy some cheap ones just for me to use while my unit will be repaired. but i know it's not practical. so i set it as a test of discipline to myself. so i can learn to be patient without it...

Easily. I left it with my mom in hospital and I'm one week without it and I hardly noticed.

One can easily do without it.In fact the one time i had to go without it I never missed it.Last year we had gone to Chikmaglur to a remote coffee estate for a holiday and there was no reception at all since it is in the middle of a jungle, so no one could use the phone except the land line that the resort had.None of us missed the moblile, instead it was like we were in a different world altogether..

Since most of us lived quite a long time before there were mobile phones, we can obviously live without them. However, the convenience they provide in our lives makes them difficult to be without now.

Yes, I will surely live without a mobile phone. I just survived without it for the past few months. Well, maybe because I only work at home so I rarely go out of the house. And needing a mobile phone is not really necessary to me. Hope you'll get your phone back to work.

I can say that I can. Just like last December my phone broke, i dropped it accidentally and the LCD screen broke into pieces. since I had no extra phone, I have nothing to use for 2 weeks. The LCD repair is expensive that's why I had to stock it for 2 weeks. I can say that I survived it luckily there is my laptop to ease my boredom.
