there are lots of cats where i live and stray ones too. i would not take them because I can't handle cats. I do love them very much but their fur irritates me. Don't let the baby have fur on him. My granny used to tell that cat fur is not good. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

ravipors i forgot to welcome you to mylot. A person who is having a three year old boy -- unless you have labourers to take care of child and cat --it is not advisable to take care of a cat. that is my view.

I am having a serious problems with cats in the house. I have always been more of a dog person but I have always liked cats too until the indoor living for them has started really causing problems. My sister lived next door and her children (my neices) have gotten in too deep in taking in stray cats.At their home they have over 20 cats that come and go as they please and the house is a disaster area. They feed the cats by throwing dry cat food on the floor. The smell is overpowering and the fleas are an infested. My neice has given my mother a cat for a present and left another one here to keep it company. They mostly stay inside and have a litter box but where they have been around the others they have been infested with fleas and now the house stinks of cat smell. I can't sit at my desk without fleas or bugs jumping on me. Couple that with the smell and I am staying nauseous because of the odors. Can anyone please tell me the quickest way to destroy the smell and bugs. We even have flying moths now. I can't stand it any more.

ravipors you are in Tirunelveli. you have three year old son. No. do not take care of kitten in house. 1) you will develop attachment for it and then if something happens to that you will be depressed 2) cat may bite your son. 3) your son may be allergic to cats fur etc. It is difficult to take of a child nowadays. why do you want to take a cat unless you are very rich man?

having any pets when there is a new born baby is not advisable. babies are sensitive when it comes to pets. they may harm your baby. cat's fur can irritate the nasal of your baby. I may advice you that refrain from having a pet when your child is still a months old. maybe you can have pets/cats when your baby is mature enough.

You should have the kitten seen by a vet if you want to adopt and see if he's free from diseases. Also the vet can offer tips on how to train the kitty to properly behave inside the house, using a litterbox and all. I hope all turns out great with your little boy and your new found pet... :)
