I hate my coworker for letting me get this rice!

My coworker bought me this rice dish from a local restaruent. She goes to this place about 4 -6 days of the week. She always goes how good it is, I usually dont eat out. It was 10$ for a dish of it, its a fair size dish and was packed in (literally). I had about a meal of it on Sunday, then again today for lunch, and supper there is still half the dish leftover. It would probably do about 6 or so meals for myself. I add some soya salt, and terryaki sauce tonight and it just make it taste 10x better.

Holy cow - rice for 6 or so meals sounds like a huge portion of rice. That would do me just fine - I love rice and can eat loads of it! What kind of a rice dish was it? I've taken leftover plain rice and turned it into fried rice . . . or also added them to soups. I can eat rice with anything (to stretch the meal) and always have a happy tummy.

Ah, sounds like the short grain rice - sticky! It's a bit sweeter too (I think). Yep, sounds like you got a deal!

I love the sticky rice, and add differet sauce. But this was $10 and made 6 dishes, and some days I would have a few bites on salad on the side.

Wow, that's a lot of rice! Just think of all the different dishes you can make with it...did you ever have pepper steak with rice? It's a really good meal and would last a long time. I've also had a Mango Orange dish with rice which was excellent too but can't temember the whole recipe. Six meals is quite a lot if you're short on money. What you made with it sounds delicious too! I always add Terryyaki sauce or Soy sauce with it just to make it tasty!

This is great if you can afford to get the steak... http://allrecipes.com/recipe/kikkoman-chinese-pepper-steak/ I love this and make it every once in a while. It tastes delicious and tastes great over rice with the gravy. Now I'm hungry. Some people also put tomatoes in it. I have never had it with tomatoes, just the green pepper, onions and gravy over rice.

I have never tried either, but I think they were both on the menu as well. But it did come with a lot, and last a long time I was surprised.

You don't sound like a very big eater that is for sure.

I've been told that numerous times. I more munch throughout the day, than have big meals. But even then I dont eat much food anyways, I drink a lot of water which keeps me full.

Sounds like you are making the best of what that money bought you. I'm sure you'll order somthing else next time. You are wise to split it up into different meals. Just what you are doing is basically what I do with my leftovers.

Wow that sounds like a lot of rice from where you are describing it. At least you have something to eat for a couple of days. It sounds like it is well worth the money too as well. There was this one restaurant that my husband and I used to go to that gave us a lot of rice and it was a lot and we had it for days and it was around $10. We loved the rice there and went there all the time.

I believe they used sticky rice, and added a variety of veggies in it as well. But it was a lot for the money, even if you made it at home it would cost about the same.

That is a lot of rice to eat. I wouldn't want that much rice over and over. At least you've found a way to eat it that it will taste better and different than what you've eaten already.

I don't normally eat this much rice, but since I got this big dish, and I dont want to waste it thats all Ive been eating with a side of salad.

I can understand that. I would also do the same because I wouldn't want to waste it. I usually try to buy something i know i like in a restaurant and that will be good as left overs if i can't finish it.

Sounds like a pretty good deal for the money, but I don't think I could eat it for every meal. Maybe two or three, but no more. Rice freezes really well so I would freeze some of it, then later thaw it in a microwave.

Well, at least you got a good amount of food. I think it sounds like a dish that would be better if you split it with a friend or maybe saw if the restaurant would let you order a half order so that you're not eating it for days.

The rice seems to be going a long way for you, so I really don't understand why you are upset about the fact that your co-worker talked you into getting the rice. I know that rice is something that is really versatile and because of that it is something that is really easy to be repurposed for a different kind of meal when you get tired of the original use of the rice. One of my favorite things to do with rice is to make a breakfast with rice by combining it with milk, a little bit of sugar and some raisins.
