Hi to all..I loooove dancing..3 weeks ago i just enrolled in a contemporary dance class to correct my posture and lose my belly fat(and other inconsiderate fats in my body)..i never exercise that often before because I'm just too lazy and preoccupied with other things but when I started dancing everything changed..now I only have just a bit of that tummy fat, better posture and let's say healthier lifestyle.. I believe that you should pick your workout based on your interests to be more effective and enjoyable..the result will be a happier and a healthier YOU..

I do a few different martial arts. Not only is it a great way to stay in shape, it is a fun social atmosphere and it's great that I'm also learning to defend myself.

Wow it's really amazing if you get other benefits than staying fit..I'm also fascinated how flexible I am compared before-that is one of the extra rewards that I'm enjoying right now.. ..Maybe I will try martial arts in the future I think capoeira would be excellent for me..martial arts+dance

Oh I just love to learn martial arts. You know how much i love those jackie Chan films and the stunts he perform. i always felt he is just beyond laws of physics. I think its a good way of keeping you fit. Also I heard it helps you to have a relaxed mind. The more you learn such things, the less aggressive you are.

Yeah Jackie Chan is my idol!!!...he is good with stunts and "karate"..when I was a child I remember having a movie marathon with all Jackie Chan's films.. I definitely need to have that meditation thing that relaxes my mind now i'm very curious..

I regret to say that I do not exercise at all, and it is becoming apparent because I am certainly not fit any more. I used to get plenty of exercise at work, and was always very active generally which allowed me to remain in good condition without requiring a gym or specific exercises. Over the past couple of years my health has declined and keeping active is no longer a viable proposition. I originally had an issue with the veins in my legs contracting, so I experience the discomfort of oxygen deprivation quite quickly. As if this was not bad enough, I had a brain haemorrhage last years and was advised before leaving hospital to take things easy and avoid the danger of raising my blood pressure. I accept these conditions as a fact of life, but they certainly forbid me to be as active as I would like.

I have to tell you my friend, you are just going in the wrong path. knowing that your health is deteriorating you have to find some way of exercise. otherwise it can be really fatal. exercises keep you refreshed and relaxed. Otherwise you will turn obese and will have a set of diseases. i would suggest you change your life style before its too late.

Oh yes, I still try to remain as active as possible, but the level of activity is very limited and unlikely to qualify as true exercise.

Sad to hear those things Have you asked your doctor if you can try other light activities? Try to list down some then show it to him...hopefully he can approve even one..how about light stretching in the morning??it can help you loosen some tight muscles, you may search some videos on how to do it properly..

I work out regularly at the gym, I go three times a week and do a 90 minute program which I devised myself, it combines both cardio vascular - cross trainer, treadmill and bike with weights. I love it, I take my Ipod with me whilst I work out. The time flies by, it's very gratifying to see how you are improving by upping the weights and going longer distances and faster. It works for me keeps my weight down, helps with my depression and it's a solitary activity (I prefer to work out on my own)

I agree..it's a stress reliever that draws depression away.. I also practice at home specially when I'm stressed..alone with my Ipod as well .. Good Luck to your workout..

I have to say I really envy you for that. i used to go to gym. Infact i had joined at gym and continued regularly for one month. But after that i just lost interest and left it in midway. i have to admit i lost the motivation. I really appreciate your intent to go to gym and keep your body fit.

I ride my bike and walk dogs, but my favorite is dancing and it is a form of exercise I do more often because the other activities do require good weather, so even in an ice storm, I can dance away...

I've been on and off of exercising for years because it's so boring. I've had issues with chronic pain for over ten years so any form of exercise takes a lot out of me. Walking is a low impact exercise which I don't mind because I do it with my dog. If the routine keeps my mind active or feels like it's not work, I'm all for it. I have recently started Zumba and I have to say that it's quite energetic and fun. I do have to slow down the routine and tailor it to my needs but yeah, losing weight and strengthening my core is going to be key.

Plain exercise is boring..i really really really agree with that i've never lasted more than 2 days consecutively doing stretching for just plain doing it..but when my mind was set that i need to stretch because i need that for dancing i started to get enthusiastic..i watched videos to do it properly and it's really relaxing instead of exhausting.. Just match your interest with what you need it may take time but it's worth everything..i also have a mild scoliosis at the upper part of my spine..it tends to hurt during my first two sessions but right now i'm doing fine.. Make sure to do everything properly to avoid the pain..and always enjoy

Very true about exercising based on your interests. Getting excessive requires motivation and discipline. So it really helps if you do something you love to do. For example, if you like playing soccer, try to motivate yourself to play at least once a week. Soccer is a great way to get in shape along with other full body workouts, that's usually what I stick to.

I have lost a lot of weight over the course of the past two years, and I have started to really enjoy certain types of exercises that I didn't think I would ever like before. One of things that I really appreciate these days is walking. This is something that you don't have to pay for as it is free to walk around your local area, but it can be lovely to go around places that you never really took any notice of before. You don't have to pay for the gym, because there are other ways that you can lose weight, so I don't understand the people who spend a lot of money joining the gym.

I exercise quite regularly. I get the majority of my cardio in either by walking intensely for an hour to a dvd, or jogging a 5k around town. I love those "feel good" endorphins. For strength training I do a lot of body resistance activities. I enjoy dancing, but it's not something that's available to me, unless I dance at home

What works for me are team sports. I find with going to the gym or jogging is that you are only accountable to yourself. When playing a team sport the games are scheduled for you and if you don't go you are letting down the team. You also get to hang out with friends or make new friends. I play ultimate frisbee and volleyball. I have played in a league called All-sorts-of-sports where you play something different each week (basketball, volleyball, ball hockey, dodgeball). It was a good way to try out a bunch of different things.
