We Filipinos have a very interesting cuisine and I know there are foreigners who loves out food but our cuisine is not mainstream enough. I think right now Indonesian cuisine and Thai cuisine are more popular than us. I dont think being a 3rd world country is the reason why our cuisine is not popular because there are 3rd world countries who's cuisine became mainstreamly popular and there are first world countries with unpopular cuisine. The Japanese manage to make Americans love sushi, The Chinese basically just influence the whole Asia and even the whole world with their cuisine.

Well I think the secret to that is we lack promoting it on international level. We need more chefs or cook foreign or local to take a look at our dishes and present this to the world. I think that is what many are doing to promote their dishes. I think we have a large pool of good chefs and they should start using and promoting our own local dishes so it can take attention from us.

another reason , can think of is out presentation, our food s delicious but we are not really into presentation, we just eat it the moment we cooked it. Look at the Japanese, they were artistic with their food. Most of our international chefs, dont cook Filipino cuisine, they cook foreign cuisines.

That may be true. Many famous cuisine are colorful and they put some artistic aspect to their dishes. I guess chefs know how they can make our dishes look attractive to the palate since they are the ones who know how to make simple food presented nicely.

The popularity of the dishes of Thai and Chinese lies on the availability of the restaurants that offer them in their menu. Perhaps Jollibee has started halo halo and TV host Bourdain liked it.

I can see Halo Halo getting big it will be promoted the way the Japanese promoted Sushi.
