Yes, there are a lot of Muslims here in the Philippines and if I am not mistaken they have their own region and that is in Mindanao the southernmost part of the Philippines. Here in the Northern part where I am living right now, there are so many Muslims also and most of them are traders or businessmen.

Hard to believe that there are people in this world that doesn't know that there are muslims in our country. they are mostly traders but some of them sell fake products and second hand phones. but their are honest ones too. there's no strange thing having a lot moslems in the country knowing that they are one of our first ancesters and settlers to the country.

I am brought up hard because I am from very rural area. I was like toad in the well, trust me. At least now that I am in India after I had got scholarship to study here, I have come to know the world but not fully, still learning.

yeah FIJI is beautiful and i did not realize it till i went back after my student visa expired in India. I have been there throughout my life and I never knew that FIJI was jewel and what made people go WOW when they hear the name FIJI. I am from the second largest Island which called Vanua Levu. I have been brought in a family from farming background. I am 27 and When I look back my past, I think I have been there done that all. When all my cousins and I were kids we used to catch prawns and fish in the ponds and also used to help in the sugar cane fields.

Hey bhaby, don't laugh at me because I never thought that there would be Islam in phil. I am surprised. You can understand where I come from. FIJI is a small place and I am from the very remote area on the second largest Island. I did not have computer and nothing. I only knew the syllabus which was taught in school and I was good at it.

I am not aware of that Ramadan Bonus yet. Where did you get that news about Ramadan Bonus? Just curios. With regards to your query if there are Muslims here, the answer is an obvious yes. Most of them are in the Southern Island of Mindanao where the Spaniards were no able to totally conquer and convert the island into Christianity. But they are always a part of the Philippine Archipelago ever since.

Oh I see, I thought is was a national mandate from government that everybody will enjoy its benefit. Well I would enjoy having those benefits as well but I guess that is an exclusive benefit for that company alone and not applicable to every company in our country.

Oh there is this mylotter who said that their company is going to double bonus per year and that is one for Christmas and one for Ramadan, This is because their company was doing good and bosses were happy and declared this bonus. So that is where I could not get the point because I did not know that there are moslems in your country. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

Yup! There many muslims here in our country but they are different from other country. Our Brother, muslims here are educated and never want to implore any violence like what other muslims in other country... Our brothers here are well educated and peace loving people. We are Filipino's and we are brothers and sisters...

Oh I see. Well, our muslim brother here in the Philippines, is not like the other muslim in some part of middle east and african countries. They are peace loving people... They might some muslim that rebel with the government but they are not using any kind of religious aspect to justify their acts. But now all of the concern issue's seems may resolve and hope everything goes well.

We have brothers and sisters who are Muslims here in our country. They have their own region, but some of them prefer to live here in metropolitan cities for business purposes. We mingled with them- although there are part of the country wherein there are clashes going on between the Muslim (rebels) and militant group.

If you're inquiring about the look - yes, they do look like Filipinos and other Malays. Just like some Indonesians and Malaysians. The only thing that you could distinguish them is the women have their head scarf. As for men, it can be difficult since many chose to adapt the modern clothing.

Hi, Long before the Europeans came to these parts of the world, they are already settled among most of the islands, still unnamed. They came from down south, in Sabah and Malaysia on their beautifully decorated sailing boats. That's one reason for the claim on some parts of Mindanao, where their ancestors settled before being booted out by the Spaniards and other foreign powers thus the beginning of the conflict that went on until now. The way I see them, they are peaceful sorts, traders mostly, their wares varied and can be had at bargain prices. I do like them a lot.

Yes, my friend there a lot of Muslims here in the Philippines. Most of them are in Mindanao though some are in Manila and other places in the Philippines. They also have their own religion and are being respected for that, that's why when the end of Ramadan comes, the president also declares it as a holiday, as a respect to our Muslim brothers.

Hi riyauro! nice new picture you have there! yes there are many muslims here in the Philippines, especially in Mindanao. I am from Mindanao, but Davao City is not really a Muslim city. But we still have a lot of Muslim friends who live here. Most of them are engaged in businesses. But nearby cities like Cotabato is where they really are. and in the Northern part of Mindanao also... We also have an officemate here who is a Muslim and is a close friend of mine. But we never discuss anything about religion as we do respect each other's belief.

Hi Riya! Well yes, we have lots of Muslim brothers/sisters here. As far as I can remember, Islam is the first religion in Philippines. Our first hero is a Muslim. Christianity is only brought by the Spaniards. Actually, this coming Oct. 26 is a national holiday, in respect to Eid Al Adha, the Feast of Sacrifice celebrated by our Muslim brothers.

After reading the responses of some, I couldn't help but laugh at people's perspective of Muslims here in our country. Evidently, they know only of Muslims that are common in their area and perhaps generalize this to be the same all around the country while some think that the southern part of the country "belonged" to them. I really resent this. Anyway, to answer your question, yes there Muslims in our country as well as people of other religions or no religion at all, too, being that we are under democracy, with the rights to choose and practice our own belief as long as there is no violation of human rights.

Hello Riyauro, With the Arrival of Malaya's and Indo's to the Philippines long ago, they were the ones who promoted Moslem region in the Southern part of the country. in fact, the reason why they were rebelling for decades was because they used to dominate Mindanao. the moslems were the reason for a failed complete take over of the Spanish, Americans and the Japanese to the whole country. but their lack of ideas for business has forced them to sell their lands to non moslems and now they are on the struggle to be known as a political entity. Moslems were one of the first settlers of the country.

Okay pahak, you won't believe me but it is true. some people might laugh at me too. when I was in my hometown I thought that Pakistan was the only Moslem country. If I chat to somebody with a moslem name, I would ask him if he was from Pakistan., Then i would say that they are from India and then i would ask them ' how come you are muslim and you are from India. India is having Hindus and Pakistan having Muslims and the rest of the world is Christians' Gosh, when I came to India for studies, while I was in the line doing admission in the college. I was in the foreigners department and I saw that there so many students in line for admission and the girls are wearing that moslem costume. I stated communicating with them and then I asked where they were from. My goodness they were so many students from Yemen, saudi, Iraq, Iran and so many other places. I had not heard these names before. I never took geography, i was science student and i was never interested in the geography and history. so yeah, then I came to know that so many people are moslems in the world. But i did not expect phil to have them because it was just I never thought it would.

Yes. There are a lot of Muslims here in Philippines. Just here in my province, there are a few Muslims near my place. They live in one place. Philippines honor the Ramadan so Filipinos, muslim or not don't have to go to work and students need not go to their school to give way to muslim's beliefs.
