speed limits in cars

just wondering it is a law to go past certain speed limits why don't they just make a car to not go as fast and just to the speed limit? less gas, less tickets, less accidents. what ya think?

I don`t know much about cars, but I think that your idea is great. If someone wants a race, let him buy a special race car. But most cars are made as commodities for everyday life. Yet the law does not punish enough druken drivers who are a menace, specially if they are driving too fast.

its an intersting thought but i suppose car companies make cars faster because people like to buy fast cars and as these companies are rearly only interested in making money they are going to keep making cars faster. Also its a safety feature, you may have to speed up to avoid an accident for example so its important that the car can do that.

most accidents happen by fast speed in cars . I know alot of abuse in money hungry people making cars but it saves money for everyone around. less money, more sales, more lives saved, less accidents, cheaper insurance, lots of accidents because of speed ,,just my thoughts...thanks for the comments.

I agree I think that its a good idea but it will only work for domestic cars because some cars need to drive fast eg police cars , army, ambulance, fire engines but it is good idea .

would be nice if they would accept it but seems they only hear what they want to hear and decide only what themselve want...I think at times we have no say over many things..

There should be speed limit for cars by law to lessen the accidents of cars. It is nice idea.
