Is it right more comment means more responses?

I always comment back with responses when I needed to. There are comments that other mylotters share their thoughts and then the box turns like a chat box. I like it that way especially with my topic.

I don't totally agree with that. Yes for the most part the more comments would mean more responses. But not always. Remember, people respond to discussions for a few reasons. One of them is if the discussion or comment is interesting. The other one is if the person is a friend on MyLot and have responded to most of their discussions. And ones that do not get responses are either not interesting or not friends with many people.

hi laughingwoman oh indeed I find when I comment on all my responses recieved that it attracts mote people to come and discuss my discussion and that makes it more fun when four or five of us start commenting back and forth.When this happens we also learn a bit more about one another and thats also much fun. ii

It should be but it is not always the case.. With all of my discussions I try to response to every single on of them.. Unless the person just writes a one liner and there is nothing that I can add to it.. From what I am learning it depends on the topic, the length, and some other things.. Look at the discussion that I posted yesterday to see what has be said..

I like to comment back to each and every person. But my way of responding is slightly different. I go about reading all the responses first. Then start responding. So I start possibly from the end upwards..lol At times though I might feel prompted to respond immediately and that might be because of something that strikes me in the response. When I read through the entire set of responses I feel I am in a better position for information exchange and have more arguments to present. Then again, if the discussion is too long and of the kind in which it is difficult to add something new, then I guess, I avoid responding continuously ..as I am so scared that a few of the lines and phrases would seem to be repetitive and almost like plagiarism..lol There are few occassions when I have typed a well thought out response but myLot fails me or Internet connection fails me, or power outage prevents me from posting it. The best however is when I delay responding because I feel I need to think over it. Or express it better. I like it that way even if it means responding after a couple of days. I have not observed what you seem to have noticed. I think much depends upon the type of discussion and content. Many people come here to relax. So they start a discussion which brings in their friends, while the topic is discussed a little bit of chatting is in order. I too start a few such discussion, though I must admit that they are rare. Others start discussion seeking advise, so if it is computer related or some common thing it gets more response because everybody seems to know something about it. Some fascinating stuff may also get ample visitors..:)

Yes, i have seen same things many times too. Every time we write anything on discussions, comments and responses the topic become updated and comes into the top list discussion of the day. So that's when our discussion being see by other's and they come to response again.

Yes, if people comment on responses it will encourage the discussion to continue. It may also attract new responders because as you have observed, the discussion comes back into the recent tab and more people get to see it, even if it is a really old discussion.

This is a good observation you've had. It is not always a guaranteed thing that you will always get response but you will have a much better chance of it. You said that you don't know how people are seeing your discussions well take a look under the top tab "discussions" and then go to "recent" on the drop down. This is where it is being seen when you do this. The recent tab is updated every time someone writes anything, any where. Any time a topic is updated or created, it will show up under this tab. Or it could be under other tabs under discussions as well. So yes you should be doing this for that reason. But also because you will earn much more through doing this. It is called a discussion site for a reason. If you're not responding back with the comments then you aren't discussing, you are just, posting and that is not what myLot wants. If you ever see a comment box with many people discussing, this is more what myLot wants. Discuss freely and have fun like you would have a real conversation outside of the internet.
