I went a barber shop this afternoon to have my monthly haircut. Quite hot outside. Luckily that there are no much customers in the barber shop so my haircut was done so fast. I just walked since it was quite near the house, I just wore cap for the hotness of the sun. When on my way going back home, I saw my cousin in a street store and buying something. I asked her what she is buying and was surprised when she said puto bumbong. Puto bumbong at this month, quite early yet inviting. I ordered three of it. It was wrapped by banana leaf. Since there were few people buying, we waited for some minutes while puto bumbong where cooking in front us. Christmas season is really fast approaching, and now I am enjoying my puto bumbong with hot tea.

I had no idea what puto bumbong was so I had to go and look it up. No wonder you were surprised to find it this early, it is very labor intensive to make! The article I just read says you need three days - two days of preparation and one for steaming.

As far as I know, there is no Philippine food where I live so I will have to take your word for it. :-)

Oh I think that was before cause they could cook it now in a minute or so. I dont know about the preparation if how long will it take. Nevertheless it is really tasty and delicious with cup of tea.

Ardoy, so far i never tasted this snack yet. Even i never saw it being sell in my country here. I am sure it is delicious until you like it so much. We here do have some steam cakes which is being wrapped by banana leaves but have different name. By the way, why is puto bumbong being associated with Christmas season? Just curious...
