Do you want to upsize that?

How often do you get asked this? I thought fast food places were trying to downsize what they sell (while still keeping the prices the same) but the last few times I've been to one, the clerk still asks me if I want to upsize. If I wanted enough food to feed 4 people, I would order 4 meals, right?

I remember a friend who filed a complaint against a fast food staff working on the checkout counter. After placing her order, she asked the crew why didn't she she ask her if she wants to upsize. The crew said that my friend clearly doesn't need it. (my friend is on the heavy side). She was so embarrassed that she talked to their manager right there and then and even filed a complaint on their corporate HQ.

Yes..4 people=4 meals. Since my daughter has been working at a pizza place here...for a couple of years now...I don't get as irritated with employees at the drive thrus asking me if I want to upside or add. It's a shame, but she gets in trouble if she doesn't ask people if they want a crazy bread with their order. They send those secret shoppers in there on her too to make sure she is doing it! I think they should lay off of the suggestive selling thing too...it can be aggravating.

Right! Back in the Philippines, whenever I go to McDonald's they asked me that. But here in Thailand, when I ordered, the drinks are already upsized.

I often upsize my drink whenever I order meals on a fast food even though it cost too much. :)

Most of the fast food restaurant here in my country always asking if i want to up-size my fries and drinks but most of the time i refuse because i always want to have a regular food order. I think they asking for up-size because it's part of their marketing strategy to increase their sales.

i personally stay away from fast food places, unless I go to Subways. I know here in NYC they are suppose to stop selling those super large drinks. I think it's silly, but that's just me. I don't get why you would need a damn 50 ounce soda for a hamgber and fries any way

Most places around here ask if you want your meal small, medium, or large. I always go for small, but sometimes I want the bigger drink and not all those extra fries that they load on you.

hi mommyboo. clerks are asked by the fast food places to ask this question to customers as part of their strategy to increase sales. i do understand your point about getting asked this question every single time you order at a fast food joint. it can be annoying at times. i just politely decline the offer to 'upsize' my fries and drinks when i'm asked by fast food clerks. cheers and happy mylotting!!!

hi mommy, believe it or not there are still people who still eat enough for 4 ppl...so asking if you want to upsize is a sale tactic that they do.. Its ok if you don't like it but there are people who do, so the question is offered anyway...you always, as I am sure you do know, have the option of saying yes or no... You sound upset but its ok, don't sweat the small stuff... Have a good week....

I don't get asked that often. Here you ask for the size you want and that's it they put the order in, they don't try to upsell you. Mind you I don't go to fast food places too often but I have been asked that before. In America though they seem to like asking that question. Asked for fries and then got asked if I'd like chilli cheese fries. . I said yes though

I don't see any issue in keeping the up sizing. I personally have never done it and couldn't eat it all by myself but maybe my husband and I could share the meal and save money instead of buying two separate meals. Some people want to eat that much its totally up to them, doesn't hurt me any .
