How much does computer consumes per hour?

This past few days, I spend around 6-8 hours surfing the net. And I'm just curious how much does computer consumes per hour if our basis is the electric bills? I'm currently using a desktop computers.

Hi, You refer to current consumption. It depends upon your brand and power supply, say around 175 to 400 watts per hour under normal use, add the CRT or LCD monitor about 75 watts, that's 250 watts tops. Multiply that by 8 equals 2KW per day. Power usage is computed per kilowatt-hour multiplied by the rate per KW times 30 for one month, you get the idea.

I do not know how much computer consumes electricity. I think most probably it is higher than we think especially if we use computer for long periods of time.
