i think corruption happened since long time ago, but in the past it's didn't visible. I had the evidence, you maightbe know that many bureaucrat who retired before refomation happened in our country get caught by KPK. Yes, you're right, we should clean law institutions at first before the law institutions can fight against corruption

Gift giving for some favors done or thank you gift is a part of most of the Asian cultures. We Asians are humble and always remember to repay anyone who has helped us. So, when someone abuses his/her authority and make use of his/her position to make money, it is tolerated and overtime, accepted as a norm. Some people even think that it is THE way to do things, both the giver and the receiver. But we are in the 21st century now. We are in a world that is border-less. We are in a world that INFORMATION and KNOWLEDGE are flowing freely and constantly. We know what is happening, we know what should be done. when we are studying what the others are doing. That is why EDUCATION is the key to make changes happened. We learn from others and adapt what is good for us. It is not easy to eliminate corruption. But if we love our country, corruption is like a cancer that is going to hurt our country badly if no action is taken to cure it. Regardless how long it will take, how much effort the people have to do, it has to be done. Maybe we will only see the result in the next three generations, but if it is effective, at least, from the fourth generation onwards, our country will be healthy again. Singapore is a country that has almost eliminated corruption. They have very strict laws on the offense. They have high moral demands from their civil workers. Even at such highly disciplined society, corruption still happened and there were a few high profile cases reported in the news. It shows just how hard it is to deter humans from the lure of materialistic gains. I believe that if we have the will, we will succeed one day. Don't give up.

Yes, it is very very difficult to delete corruption from Indonesia. I think there is no hope for Indonesia to become clean. If there is, then the possibility is very slim and will take long time. The problem already root in deep because of the Suharto regime. Suharto maintain the presidency too long, and he is a big corruptor. So along those time, the country has been brainwash from the top to the bottom with corruption. If everybody is a theft, who is going to report the theft? You report the theft to your superior who is also a theft, so of course nothing is happening. The Suharto empire is the top of the leader, and they are so corrupt. You learn, watch and follow. The army, same thing is corrupt also. Everything was under his power. Have you ever found a government employee who is not rich?? No way! Police, army, governor, until lurah, even leaders of muslim, they all corrupt. I don't think it's going to happen soon.

When corruption exists, it would be very difficult to break in ones government, especially when it has been going on for a long time. It's not impossible to eliminate such way but civilians should be adamant in fighting corruption and the people involved. The more we are vigilant in the way the government works and the politicians in the government, we could stop corruption. If we are able to look at them and tell it to their faces that we do not accept corruption then these people would be at some point know that power would no longer protect them in abusing the what is rightfully belongs the the people.
