I have. One day I just felt like eating "halo-halo," a specialty among Filipinos but sometimes they are too sweet because they usually put condensed milk which is very sweet already, plus sugar, plus the fruits which are also sweet, so you get to eat something which is overly sweet. So one day, I bought some halo-halo but instructed the salesgirl not to put any sugar and to just put a pinch of condensed milk. Voila! I had my halo-halo without sugar and with just a pinch of condensed milk. I got my purpose of quenching my thirst without raising my blood sugar level. Have you also done this? Please share your own halo-halo story.

I always have my halo-halo sugarfree, except of course when it comes to fast food like Chowking; no matter how I tell the server not to put sugar in it they still put sugar. Anyway, good thing that everyone in my family likes it so they're just more than too happy to have mine.

Chowking halo-halo is super sweet so I don't like it.

Exactly. It's like eating sugar with ice, I can't taste the other ingredients anymore.

If you eat halo-halo without sugar you need to put more milk for it to become sweet. For me halo-halo is not halo-halon without sugar because i love sweet.

On some occasions, I had. Usually when the fruits are sweet enough. Sometimes the coconut gel does the trick. These can already sweeten the halo-halo. If you like adding ice cream, that also makes it sweet already. But I haven't eaten this treat with condensed milk. Personally, it ruins the traditional taste of halo-halo. Since I was a kid, I've been used to having evaporated milk added to it :)

Of course, no ice cream please. I find it too much to have ice cream added to halo-halo.

Oh I always make sure that it has sugar but just enough and not too much. For me, halo halo without sugar is quite incomplete and tasteless. I guess if eating halo halo once in awhile wont cause any bad in sugar level of our body.

Hi Cutie! I have not eaten halo-halo without sugar. It's quite funny but it makes sense besides the condensed milk is sweet already and other fruits. Not to mention the "ice cream." I will try that halo-halo without sugar. Good post.:-)

Hi Edvc! Yes, halo-halo nowadays is very sweet. Sometimes if you give instructions of not putting sugar, the sweetness is still there.

Yes I can eat halo-halo even without the sugar. We are avoiding sugar already because diabetes run through our family. The sugar in the milk already makes it delicious. Oh I am craving for halo-halo now though it's too early to have one.
