Hi mylotters, I just wonder, how will you react when someone confess to you that he had done a very bad thing in his life like killing somebody?

I would be shocked and scared of that person. Why the heck would he even tell me that. Now I will forever be guilty of keeping such a secret. I wish he just didn't tell me.

I think that it would depend on who it was who confessed, and what they were confessing to. If it was a friend who told me that they killed somebody then I think that I would have to go to the police, because I would get into trouble with them if it was found out that I had known about it. If it was a family member then I don't know what I would do, because even though you wouldn't want to get into trouble then I don't think that you would want to tell the police either because you wouldn't want one of your close family members to go to prison for life.

Honestly, I can't tell you what my reaction would be if someone was to confess something like this to me. The reason that I don't know what my reaction would be is because of the fact that I don't know what the circumstances are that surrounded the situation. It is only unless I knew the reason that something like that had happened. I mean my reaction would be one way if I found out that the person had done something in self-defense than it would be if they simply killed a person because of the fact that they just wanted to kill someone.

If the person confided in you professionally, then you may be bound to honor your code of professional conduct. If you were told this story as a friend, then it depends on the circumstances that prompted him/her to tell you that story. Sometimes, the story is told to increase their 'street credit ratings' as it could be a hoax. However, if you have reason to believe the story being told to you, then you may determine whether it is apptopriate for you to tell another person or not.

Well I will be shocked at first. But at the same time, I will be happy also. Because it's an opportunity for me that someone had confessed to me. Because it feels like that he/she really trust me that much. :)

I will ask the reason why it happens (of course that will be a shock for me) But, I won't judge the person as soon as he/she confesses me. I will try to ask him/her . If the case just happened recently - I know that would be hard to convince the person to submit him or herself to the police. But I will try my best to explain it is the best thing- to clear the conscience and have a peaceful life after all- the crime is done.

When I am still working at the hospital a patient of mine admits that he killed somebody but he did to protect not on purpose but to protect herself because her step-dad did something bad to her while her mom working abroad. She was crying and very afraid during that time but as a nurse it's our responsibility to report the incident and call the authority who can protect and care of her.

It is your call, to turn him in or not. But the guilt will still be there, I should encourage the person to do the right thing.
