This morning my friend ask me why her computer is running really slow and even the internet connection is really terrible (its just about 25KBps), then i check it out and found a trojan is planted on her computer and a few system errors that causing unnecessary system loads. I fixed all of the problems and she's really happy with my help and even buy me a lunch... Sometimes there are lots of nasty stuff running inside our computer that we must get rid of, don't you agree with me :) Anyway, have you ever experiencing such a problems?

Hi starsfield, i appreciate you helped your friend :) This problem often happens in our computer too, i know the reasons (same as you told) but cant fix all them myself..my hubby do the job perfectly..I can say him one of the biggest reason for the problem too :D He is crazy for computer things, softwares and gadgets..I have to remind him always that its my home not your workshop :-/ He makes the things complicated sometimes because of his deep interest in new technology..huhh..But somewhere in my heart i appreciate him also because it makes him different from other colleagues of him, he is known and appreciated for his knowledge in his office front as well as in friend circle.

I have never had a Virus on my Mac but I have a great Anti-Virus tool that has caught a lot of Windows Viruses that made it onto my Mac.

yeah, that's because mac is built on linux kernel,, and because its design which make it almost impossible to execute viruses in such operating system..

I have acquired viruses and other malware in the past, although this has not occurred now for quite a long while. I always deal with something of that nature immediately because I absolutely hate having anything dubious on my computer. I remember a problem several years ago when I discovered a Trojan, but it would not allow me to delete it because it was still running. I used Tsk Manager to stop it, but when I attempted to delete it I was informed that it was still running. This happened several times and every time I stopped it the program started up again. I found a small program in another directory which was scanning the Trojan and was set to restart it whenever it stopped. My only option was to delete it via DOS.

Its hard to kill trojan that already running on your system because most of current trojan maker design their trojan to run within RAM so it is completely out of operating system control so even if you kill it from task manager it will always come back, the right way to kill trojan is to kill it before it even start

yes I have.. right now I am having a problem after installing from mirosoft the service pack 2 for a laptop . The computer would not shut down right and takes along time to do so. I am running antivirus on it now just to be safe..when turning on it was a long start also. ..I had to download the service pack 2 in order to stay up to date and get internet 9 and the security essituals from mirosoft. makes you wonder sometimes about these downloads..they should be more for all programs.. you tube will not work either unless you update to higher browseing internet like 8 or 9.

Sometimes when we update from windows update, it will take long time to shutdown and its perfectly normal, this is to allow the update to be installed. However if each time when you shutdown your computer it always take so long then there must be a problem with your comp. I never use internet explorer for my internet activity, most of the time i use firefox and chrome, just try it and believe me you'll like it :)

I am having problems with my computer now. My antivirus software ran out, but we had signed up for Norton Antivirus and it was suppose to cover all computers in the house. There was 4. It seems that mine weren't protected. Anyway I got a virus and my sister ran an AVG cleanup antivirus program. It seemed to work, but now I can't play any music, can't watch videos and takes way to long to load. A box keeps popping up telling me that I need to run a system recovery. I know that I have adobe reader and flash player, java, but my computer always tells me that I need added plug ins to view this material, but I can't download them in the computer. I've only had this computer a year. I went to the place where I bought it and they said it weren't covered by warranty, he said he'd run a diagnostic for free, but I may have to buy a new computer. I can't afford that right now. Any suggestions?

I used to have such a problem with the virus, so currently i have a computer specially cater just for downloading stuff and a notebook specially for Work only. Just a point to note is that have you do a netstat? Just by deleting trojan is not enough you need to close all the unused port in the computer or else it would still be very vulnerable to virus attacks or hackers.

That's a good approach, so when you blindly download virus your important files(your work) still safe in another computer, i might try that... And about netstat, yeah its just the basic. I even fixed problems in firewall, drivers, registry and many things i know exists... Thanks anyway :D

I used to have this kind of problem with my first laptop when I was a greenhand. But ever since I got my second laptop, this kind of problem seldom happens. I installed anti-virus software and it helps protect my laptop. This way my laptop usually works well and enjoys a smooth net speed. Thanks for the discussion, starfield.

installing antivirus is the best way to protect your computer if you have no idea what to protect or how to defend, there are many ways for the virus maker (hacker) to evade their stuff from antivirus detection, have you ever think why we need to update antivirus often? its because antivirus product can only detect "known" virus that has been reported before and it won't detect a "new" unknown virus that just been created..

Personally, I am a firm believer of safe conscience usage of our computer where we do not try to be overly risky by opening attachments or websites delivered from unreliable addressees and sources. Ignore and refuse to install antivirus and anti spyware programs and keeping them updated to protect our computers from being hacked and attacked. Like our daily need to do personal grooming to look and feel good, computers need to perform various maintenance like clearing accumulated temporary folders, caches and cookies. Then, we will need to defrag our hard disk once in a while to keep it in good working condition. Lastly, we will even need to keep our computer's hardware clean where dusts are known to be one of the hindrances on a computer's optimum performance. Virus are everywhere when you surf around the net. I think installing a good antivirus system can really help and also try to download CCleaner and take some time to defrag your hard disk :)

I hate it when trojans and other viruses attacks your computer system. I do have some experience with computer viruses but not to the point that it eats up my internet connection. My old laptop had an attack of trojan before and it was terrible! it ruined my computer crashing up files, and softwares the best solution i had since i had no choice was to format my computer. Lucky my laptop comes with a Operating System installer unlike other laptops being sold that they the OS-cd pack is not given. Have a great day!

I suggest you can uninstall some programs that you use it seldom. As the time grows, the more applications in my computer, but a lot of appliications is waste. And you can install a antivirus program to protect your computer all the time.

These problems are very common. To fix them at the right time is the correct solution. It could solve future problems which could lead to an Operating System crash or data loss. However most of us tend to neglect these if our work is still getting completed. Always remember 'A stitch in time saves nine'.

When I bought my first computer about 3 years ago, it got infected with a virus within a month cause I didn't have an antivirus. Boy I was so confused on what to do because I had minimal computer knowledge back then. I hired a professional to clear out the whole system and immediately bought an antivirus.I faced this problem recently too, my dad's laptop is filled with viruses cause his antivirus license expired and he didn't know. But now that I know a lot about computers I had the whole system formatted and reinstalled and got him an antivirus too.
