through the years. Does your family have any traditions? I have a few with my direct family... 1) Thanksgiving we always stand in a circle, hold hands, and say what we are thankful for before we sit down to eat. 2) And for Christmas I do an 'advent' kind of thing with my daughter. We have done it every year. An advent is a calendar type of thing where you give something to your child each day before Christmas. Usually chocolates or something like that. Well, I started the first year my daughter was born and have been doing it since. But we start on December 1st and she gets something every day til Christmas morning. She has always loved it and so have I! Oh and this year she will be turning 18 but she still can't wait!

We have hold on to family traditions because it somehow holds the family closer together. These traditions could differ from one family to another, but, no matter what the traditions may be, it will forever stay, most especially to our Family.

I know. It's sad because so many families no longer do this. It is so important to have something to pass on so we don't forget other family members and the old traditions Thank you for sharing!

It's really sad coz some must have been influenced a lot by other cultures that they have completely forgotten their own traditions.

In every family, they always stays together. Even if there are shortcomings in life, they will always loyal and support to each other. In some cases, the marriage didn't work out, they got divorced or separated for personal issues. If one member had an issue, they will still be there to support their loved ones, for the sake of their children's welfare.

Yes I agree. We should always remember to support one another through good and bad. That is something in itself you can pass down through the ages.

Family tradition that I want my kids to hand down to their kids someday is the close bonding that me and my siblings have. Me and my siblings are very close to each other like- buddies and friends. I am the eldest among 4 siblings and I never acted as superior to them (my younger siblings) I always told them that- we must respect each other regardless of age and no one is superior than the other.

Good for you! What a wonderful way to look at life and your siblings! You are right, family tradition is very important, no matter how big or small. It's something you can pass on to your own children and them to theirs.
