Are you one into throwing extravagant parties? I know some people in our area who love throwing or hosting super extravagant parties with guests reaching up to a thousand and even more. The venue is lavishly decorated, the gowns are by hundreds of pesos each, the food is overflowing, everything so superfluous and over the top. I have attended a couple of these parties and wow, you could see and smell how much money is spent on these parties. If you had the money and resources, would you spend so much on a party just to make it memorable and fun-filled? Please share your thoughts.

I would never have an extravagant party when there is so much poverty in the world and some kids do not even have food. I would try to help a few families or homeless people and especially kids. Having these parties are ostentatious and do not impress me. That is not to say that I do not like to entertain, but prefer smaller settings like ten or fifteen people or a nice dinner with friends in a restaurant. The food will be excellent but there will be no pomp. It would be irresponsible of me to waste money like that..

Hi Riemp. I can understand many sensitive people who think it is a shame to be having extravagant parties when so many people are hungry. I do seem to have this kind of feeling too.

Well, if I have the resources, I would. I'd always dreamt of having big parties when I was a kid. I wanted my debut to be celebrated on a five star hotel. And I wanted to have a big birthday bash year after year. But that was only in my dream though. How I wish that someday it will come true.

I do hope you will get to do this with your own kids one of these days.

I also attended this kind of parties since my work is party related. And most organizers and host are really rich and famous. Some people use to have this kind of party for charity reasons for the benefit of some institutions. Maybe if I m the host I will not do this kind of party not only for my self since I have lots of famous rich friends I will make this kind of party for the benefit of other poor people.

It depends on each person. If they have money, why not? Its not bad. Maybe they are just being too generous that is why they are throwing big parties .. but if you ask, I won't throw big parties like that if I don't have money. Who knows? Someday if I ever earn a stable income, I would throw big parties too, but still, I'm not sure about it because I don't know what would happen to me in the future

Some people really don't mind how much money they put up to throw a party. What's important for them is to have a satisfactory event that everyone will treasure and talked about most especially the celebrant of a party. For me, if i have the budget on organizing such event then why not invest on it. In the long run, i can satisfy myself and make everyone happy about the event that they are coming.
