I'll never understand doctors!

I fell and banged my ribs pretty bad so I had a chest x-ray. When my doctor saw it she saw something on my lung that she didn't like so I had to get another x-ray and then a CT scan of my lungs. I went to see her today and she said there is something on my lung but it's smaller than 5 centimeters so not to worrry and come back in 6 months to see if it grows any. To me that's crazy and they should at least take a biopsy on it but she disagreed with me and told me to come back in 6 months! Am I wrong in thinking something should be done now and not wait to see if it grows? Now I will worry for 6 months not knowing if it is growing or not. What would you do in this situation?

ohh so sorry. These doctors , i don't believe them. They get some commissions if they send us to the particular tests from the lab. First they say some x ray then some more. Recently the same thing happened with my relative also. First they said to take x ray, later some specialist doctor he said some ct scan as x ray was not enough. Total they got some 20,000 bill by the time they finished all the tests. yes they never agree with us, if we give them our idea they say , if know that much then why don't we treat ourselves. That's so irritating. I don't understand what they feel.

I"m beginning to think my new dr. is really looking out for my health and not wanting me to have major surgery for anything.

yes so true. they are crazy doctors sometimes and yeas they get commission on all the tests and this whole thing is a scam now. They are all after money and it is very hard to find a good doctor nowadays. it is sad.

some people just become doctors because their parents can buy them the degree. it is sad but is does happen in today's world. So I would like to suggest you to see anther doctor. six months is a lot of time.. it is paining you now?? Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead.

yes i agree, some of my relatives are doctors , they didn't get the seat in India , but as they have money and their parents want them to, so they send them to china or some other place for the degree.

This is a new dr. for me because my previous dr. retired. She's young and very thorough. Any little problem I have she tries to be right on top of. My previous dr. took days before she would get back to a message I left for her. My new dr. calls me the same day. I think she's a good dr. and no I have no pain.

You could always ask her explanations and if you still are not satisfied, then, ask a second opinion

She explained everything and even showed me the xray and ct scan readout. It's very small and could possibly go away. I'm going to stop worrying about it.

I'd rather not have it touched because I heard that it gets activated or bigger when you touch it. If it does not bother you, just keep it that way. Just strengthen your body with exercise and proper diet.

I believe the same thing. Once it is touched you seem to develop more things that's why I'm sort of happy that their not going to do a biopsy. Just leave well enough alone. She wouldn't have said there's nothing to worry about because she's very frank with me about everything.

I would get a second opinion as soon as possible. I don't trust doctors and my health is fine. I believe firmly in natural remedies/treatments. Did she say what the "something" was? A spot on the lung is called a pulmonary nodule. Here are some links that may help you: www.everydayhealth.com/health-center/solitary-pulmonary-nodule-info.aspx www.livestrong.com/article/234750-diseases-that-cause-nodules-to-form-on-the-lungs/?utm_source=undefined_R1&LS-2659 www.ehow.com/facts_5579923_treatments-lung-nodules_.html I hope you find helpful information on these sites, but I would definitely get a second opinion. For myself, I prefer a doctor who practices holistic medicine.

Yes she said it's a nodule. I looked it up on line and there is a lot of information on it. I might just go for a second opinion.

If you really worry about it then maybe you should look a second opinion to other doctors? Just my two cents otherwise if your doctor tells you that its something you shouldn't worry about then maybe you just wait and relax?

Yes, she promised it is nothing to worry about. I have a lot of problems with my lungs but she listened with the stethoscope she said they sound good. I might just wait like she says and try to relax about it because I've been a complete spaz about it.

I would go for a second opinion, after all it's your body, your life, I actually feel that she was being a bit blase about it, come back in 6 months well sorry, anything could happen in six months, what, for example if it grew and when you went back they told you it was too late? 6 months is a long time. No you are not wrong, do you really want to spend the next 6 months worrying if it's got bigger or not? I wouldn't.

I would get a second opinion... Your doctor is ready to just sit and wait to see if something happens.. I do not know how much you trust this doctor but if there is something on your lungs.. I would find out what it is before just letting it be for 6 months.. From things that I have seen on tv; its best to find it right away.. I would question why you have to wait.. Everyone has the right to get a second opinion!

It is better to have a second opinion. I agree that 6 months is too long to wait. If you think you are not satisfied with the result and opinion given by your first doctor, you are always free to ask for a second opinion with other doctors. It is the best thing to do before anything went wrong.

I have said it before and I will repeat it. Today's doctors are a dangerous lot. I think you should order for a biopsy and that's it.For your peace of mind you need to do that You are in charge of your body and not the doctor.

A doctor once found a spot on my lung. I learned that in order to biopsy it, they would have to collapse my lung. Since I've had a collapsed lung before, let me assure you this is extremely painful. He actually wanted to go in and remove that particular lung, and I said no. This was many years ago. I've had x-rays since then, and no one else ever mentioned it again, so I guess it is no longer there. I't your choice what to do, but please make sure you look and all options and educate yourself before making any decisions.

Smaller than 5 centimeters? Assuming it is approximately 4.5 centimeters, for me (I am not a medical doctor) it must have been examined thoroughly... a biopsy must have been done. I once had a mass on my throat and I think it was 2 centimeters in diameter. My doctor had a biopsy on it and it turned out to be a cancer! Two other doctors confirmed this finding. Try going to other doctors...

The way doctor treat people is a miracle to cure illnesses. They have the passion to help people with all their knowledge learned from medical school. For some in-line with this profession, they take advantage people who don't have the idea about medical treatment.
