Insensitivity

Some people nowadays are quite insensitive especially the youngs and young adults. They show no sympathy or emotional response. They tend to do things and say words that seem just a joke to them. I know a young couple separated because the husband is immature. When his wife was pregnant, he boasted to his relatives that "it was an accident, " instead of boasting that they will have finally a baby. The lady was hurt. She slapped and left her husband. The husband said it was a joke. Absurd and immature, isn't he? What do you think of this? I think young people should be reminded that not every word is a joke.

A case of a bad joke gone wrong, lol! The humor associated with being insensitive could very delivered with the intent of making someone laugh or putting a smile on their faces especially if she/he would ponder on it, and i consider this as a mature gesture of making something out of a delicate issue. It can only be absurd to people who are too sensitive and suffering from sort of self-righteous behavior, lol!

The fact that it was intended as a joke, doesn't mean he is immature, right? In cases like this, i think the matter of weighing things that are to be said depends most likely on his perception of the incident and it was probably some sort of a defense mechanism against criticisms and alike. I have seven sons given to me, and i do make some jokes about them being too many as sort of a way to redirect others notion of me having too many children, ok? We are all unique in so many ways and personality-wise we tend to be who we are and what we want to be. so, in this case, i think is a joke gone wrong, and it's your opinion that it was wrong, but we should never judge a person by a simple mistake especially if it was meant to be a joke.

I just want to voice out my opinion. I did not judge a person and this is not a case of being self-righteous. I was hurt on what he said for that woman. It is painful for women on what he said. I'm calling out to some people that one should be careful on what one is saying and not making something a joke that hurts. This not being judgmental thing; i want some people to be aware of it.

I don't think what he said was really right. He was immature and boasting and satisfying his ego. This is not a case of self righteous, what I'm pointing is one should weigh what one is going to say. What he said, is really wrong. Children are gifts from God.

yeah how stupid is that husband. Not everything is a joke yeah. Some people like jokes and some don't so the husband should know that the wife does not like his immaturity. they are having baby and things won't be the same again. the boy should not have done that. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead..

So glad that I'm not the only one who noticed this. I can't understand why people are like that. Are they not interested? Don't they like life? That attitude like "I don't care"....................i simply HATE it! And then the matter of never showing any emotion.......GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

That really hurts. A lot of people nowadays are really insensitive. To some, everything is a joke, even if it they hurt other people. I really miss the old days where respect is a must. Also miss my disciplinary grandma. lol

That is my point too. To some, everything is a joke, even if it hurts. It's kind of flow of trends now. Unlike the good old days, people have respect for each other. Thanks for your response.

Maturity doesn't go with age. There are some who are born "late bloomers" there are some who mature earlier in life. Maturity sometimes is a result of experience or people around him. Maybe this husband has not matured enough. Were they married? How many children do they already have? Anyway, maybe the husband is not so okay having a baby yet. He is not ready to be a father. and I am proud of the wife. I like her guts to slap her husband, ha ha ha. I am not into violence neither encouraging it but whoaaaaaaaa.. such a woman. standing up on her knees and fighting for her baby, that's courageous. Some women could have just kept quiet and take it as it is. I could say. "Go, Wife! you are great!" thumbs up for you.

Some people should learn to think before they speak, before insulting or hurting someone, how would they like it if someone was insensitive or rude to them? Different story. I hope that guy learnt his lesson and taught him to grow up, because of his insensitivity he has lost his wife! I would be hurt too and can fully understand how she felt.

Yes, that is my point. One should think first before they speak. I mean there are a lot of youngters like that nowadays because for them its a joke. However, I do not mean all of them, some are serious too. Thanks for your response.

I think putting young and young adults in the same "joke" category is wrong and judgemental. I don't know if I am considered a "young adult" or not but I am very serious about life and things that I do. I have always been a serious person, even when I was younger... Most likely always will be. Some OLDER people are just as immature as a 20 year old! That guy was a jerk and probably will be even at 100 years old, has nothing to do with young or old in my opinion. Immature does not always mean young by the way. People can be immature in their 50's+ too! Just some thoughts for you...

There are grown people too like that however what I mean is because of this new age we have right now, a lot of youngters would like to keep on the flow but not all of them, I mean a lot, because they want to be in trends, even in their languages are different now, they have their own languages in calling names the other people, that is what I noticed. And they do not care if one will be hurt. My point is one should think first before one should speak. Thanks for your response.
