Have you had to go some place and yet decided to go lazy and leave it for the next day? I am afraid I do it all the time. Today I had a big grocery list. It has been growing all month, but now it has become a question of life and death because I have little coffee left. Yet last night I stayed mylotting until wee hours (it paid too) and most of today I have been feeling lazy. I watched TV, slept and did some minimum chores. Finally, I did not go to the super. And tomorrow I have today`s chores plus a lot of things I have to do tomorrow that include mowing the lawn.
Do you wait until de last moment for your grocery shopping? Do you have a certain day (week, day of the month) to buy your groceries? What do you do when you feel you are about to procrastinate? Share!

I force myself to go every 2 weeks, when it comes to grocery shopping. If I had more storage space, it would be less, because as you all know, I can't deal with the "real" world well at all. It was raining, sleeting and snowing here yesterday, and our days are currently just over 8 hours of "daylight" anyway, so I put off cleaning my chicken coop and putting out more bedding for my alpacas until there was a break in the rain today. My general shopping day is Friday, because grocery store sales here run from Wednesday to Tuesday, and Friday afternoon the store isn't too crowded when I go. The feed store where I buy my animal feed has the same sale schedule, but I only go there monthly-- I stock up when I'm there. I'm all about traveling as little as possible, between gas prices and my agoraphobia.
When I feel like procrastinating, I set a timer for one hour and work at something, like chores for the whole hour. Then when the timer dings, I reward myself with a 20 minute break. And if I get everything on the list done, then I relax with a candy bar and a good book, or internet LOL.

Yep, it is, and it's already freezing LOL. We originally bought it, apparently, because we planned to travel for a year after we retired-- but it's home, now. Even with plastic over all the windows and Styrofoam in the roof vents, it gets danged cold in here. It should be an interesting winter. I just had to go out back and chase of a huge pack of coyotes that were harassing my alpacas-- biggest pack I have ever seen.

I can identify myself with this procratinating, giving myself a task and then a reward for having completed it. I suppose when there are more people at home you need more storage space if you cannot go to the super more often. Couldn`t you make a bigger pantry somewhere? It would not have to be anything fancy. When I had my whole family with me, I placed whatever I bought extra on jars I recycled. That way I could have more goods at home and they kept well.

Sometimes I do get lazy to do things right away. But then thinking about how I could be busy in the afternoon, I try to do as much as I can so that when kids are home, I can help them with school work.
I keep a schedule in going to the grocery or doing the laundry. That way, I won't be caught with having no food at all or my kids will be really hungry (all are BIG boys!) and I would be caught with laundry as high as a two-storey apartment!

I had to be responsible when my husband was alive and my daughters were with me. Now I`m retired and live alone. It changes my habits a lot. If I`m having fun with mylot, I can skip lunch and then grab something (usually something I shouldn`t) a lot later.

Hi, Mama Marguicha! ( I hope you don't mind me calling you that way)
From a self-confessed, Mylot addict! Yes, our habits have changed a lot through the years. And one habit that is common among all of us is being here at Mylot a whole lot!

Hi Jenny. No, I don`t mind. Many of our habits depend on what we do with other people. When we are alone our body works like a baby`s body. Sleep and eat whenever it wants

I do this very often. And then end up managing with whatever is there in the house because I am too lazy to go get just one thing. But when my daughter visits makes me go to the supermarket with her and buy all my groceries and I willingly go with her because she is there to help me carry everything home. And since she knows what i like and what i dont its easy shopping with her.

I like to go to the supermarket with someone else. The supermarket is at a walking distance from my house, but walking is a lot better if you do it while talking to a friend. I try to get the friends who visit me to do to the super so that I don`t go alone.

Marg, i always do the shopping once a week for my family. Usually, we would go shopping either on Friday or Saturday. I need to replenish those items which nearly finish to avoid panicking feeling in my family. Before i go shopping, i would make a list of items to be buy. And i would calculate roughly how much to be spend on the grocery. If it is more than i could handle at that moment, then i would take out some items which is not really that important from my list. I would only buy items which are the most important to me. By budgeting that way, i don't have to spend a lot of expenses at one time. I can break it down into weekly expenses.

I used to do tsomething like that when there were several people living with me. But now I live alone and there is no point in going to the super when I don`t feel like it. I always have alternatives on hand and can make a meal with them.

Yes, I usually procrastinate when it comes to grocery shopping, especially at the first of the month. I just hate to go, because of my hearing loss, and face it people are just rude now days! I can go down an aisle and be the only person in that aisle. I'm looking around for what I need and to compare shop so I get the best bargain. Suddenly out of nowhere people are budging in front of me, blocking my way or bumping into me. No one hardly ever says "Excuse me" anymore and I just can't deal with disrespectful people. A lot of times I send my husband grocery shopping for me. Then you have to handle these disrespectful grocery shoppers driving!

I agree with you. That`s why I like to go midmorning at what I call "ol`ladies hour". Most of the people around are working so I have more room for myself. I don`t go on Mondays because there is a 5% off if you pay with cash. It seems that everyone in the world is shopping then

my mother is kinda superstitious when it comes to rice and salt. for her, if you run out of these, it's like you're the most pitiful person on earth. good thing we just have to walk out the gate and there are stores everywhere and the market 2 streets away.
she's also kinda paranoid when it comes to LPG which we use for the stove. as soon as we put a new one in, she wants to buy another one even though 1 tank lasts us 6 weeks.
she and my sister also tend to buy too many vegetables and 1/4 of it would end up wilted or rotting away.
that's why when i go out, i make a thorough inventory around the house so i will buy only what's really needed.

I think that each of us has a small list of "must have" in our minds. My list is toilet paper and coffee. I can go without bread, but coffee is a must.

i always buy green bell pepper and a small can of sliced button mushrooms. i can't resist winged beans either and always look for orange papaya for my father. i'm always the one buying dishwashing liquid and laundry detergent. with my mother i notice it's squid balls and siomai (pork dumplings). with my sister, it's toilet paper and junkfood.

We generally go on the Friday or Saturday of the roomie's pay weekend. I might stop and pick up other stuff, but on the whole, most of our shopping is done on one of the weekend days of the roomie's payday weekend.
It has been known to be pushed to a later day but the latest day we can wait is Tuesday so we have the cat litter.

I used to have some organisation when I had more people at home. But now I live alone and I could stay away from the supermarket for a month without needing anything but bread. This time it`s worse because I`m running out of my favorite brand of coffee.

I have a certain day of the week when I buy groceries. Friday, right after I'm done with all my classes, I go grocery shopping. Don't really have a choice since I don't have a lot of food lying around and leave far away from the market so it's either shop that day or waste a whole day shopping or starve. When I go home where my family, they usually have a lot of cans and dry noodles lying arouns and during that time I find myself being lazy to shop.

When I worked away from home, I had to have a day for shopping, usually on my way home. But now that I`m retired, I have more than what I need so that I can choose when to go buy what I need. Fortunatly, I have a small pantry that suits my needs

I always rememer a quote n who shops on Fridays but recently, well - if I don;t shop on a Friday the sky won't dropthat I once read. It went something like this. 'Until you have spent and enjoyed an afternoon doing nothing then you have not yet learned to live'. We need to goof off sometimes on our responsibilities. I am an organised person and used to not feel good if I did not complete my tasks on a particular day but not anymore!!When I feel that I an about to procrastinate then if possible, this is what I do and enjoy it! It is lovely not to get up and go to work already stressed because I worked for a MONSTER.

I agree with you. But I`m afraid that I have grown quite lazy lately. I live alone so I can do things when I please. And last year I didn`t have much energy due to chemotherapy. I discovered the pleasures of beimng addicted to the computer. Now it`s difficult to break away from it.

I don't have a certain day or time that I do my grocery shopping. In fact, I tend to be the person that will run to the store each and every day. I know that this does lead to spending more money at times, but I like doing it that way because that is something that gives me the opportunity to get out of the house for a little bit without the kids. So, for me, going to the grocery store is my few minutes of peace in those days that I go to the store.

Dear marguicha
Me has never been so calculative. I always end up in more messes. And if I look back at the past week, I had been to the grocery store almost every day. My wife is much more organized and can even tell me the dates when that item on her stock will end. I on the other hand, almost always end up empty jarred and it is then that I realize oh I should have got this stuff yesterday or earlier.

Our routine is that we buy our groceries only during payday. haha but sometimes if we run out of stocks we buy them immediately providing that we have extra money, since our workplace is just nearby town so it is not a big deal for me. but somehow i can tell that i do get lazy, i think it's normal for us to feel that once in a while.

I don`t have payday anymore. I have to live on a budget, but I can move the day when I go shopping because I pay almost everything with my credit card. I pay it in full at the end of the month, but I get some dollars to help pay for my vacations.

I am different. Since there is a big supermarket nearby my home. So I can go there whenever I want. Sometimes I may just go there to buy a pack of soda water It is so convenient. If I go there for a long time, I have to carry a lot of stuff and it is tiring.

I shop every Saturday and hate going with Randy. Randy and I have different ways of shopping. I am a strict we only buy what is on the list while Randy wants to buy a lot of extra food (and never looks at prices). I have been feeling lazy a lot lately, but I force myself to get things done. I have homework to do so I can start making my earrings and this Saturday I am thinking about taking a jewelry making class so I can learn how to make bracelets and necklaces (I already know how to make earrings). If I learn fast enough maybe I can make things and sell them online by the end of next week. I do have a tendency to put off household chores.

I am the one , who always prepares the list of monthly things required at home. I read out the list to my mom, to see if anything is missing. Then starts the whole story, going to supermarket always gets postponed . I am very lazy person. I always postpone the things which require me to go out .

I am very good at making lists too. The problem starts when I must go to the super. I must walk to the super because I should walk about 20 times more by doctors orders. So I forbid myself to use the car for the super. But then, to think that I must walk, procrastination settles in
