There are people who really knows how to cook, either they're born with it or they learned it. I tried learning how to cook, but I don't think cooking loves me. I do cook a little like fry, eggs, hot dogs, pasta/noodles, etc. You know, the easy ones! I'm glad I was able to learn to make some sweets like cheesecakes and stuff, but that's all. Do you cook? I love to eat and eat, but I just can't cook! lol

Hi! Before I also don't know how to cook. Just the basic ones, like you do. But now, I'm trying to cook dishes for main meals. I'm now trying to cook dishes which has chicken as my main ingredient, since chicken is relatively easy to cook. Literally, you'll just have to wait till the flesh turns white, and the chicken's almost done. Since I'm just starting to learn how to cook, I decided to master first on how to cook chicken dishes. And when I'm confident enough, I'll try pork dishes. I usually get my recipes online or in cookbooks. I just follow what's stated and eventually I play around with the flavors and spices.

I love to eat too! I can cook a little but I'm more confident if my mom is there for me to answer my questions while cooking.

I still have a long ways to go and I have not cooked for a while so my confidence level is at the low right now. But now that you remind me, I plan to cook something this weekend. With the help of my mom of course!

That's nice to know! If you had enough experience of cooking, I guess you can take a look at some cookbooks and you won't have any problem anymore. =)

Sounds to me you're a good child. Our parents get old so fast, we'll never know how long we can still get to be with them. So, take advantage of time and go have fun cooking with you mom! ;)

Oh, you're not alone. Cooking is also my weakness. I can cook vegies but I can't cook chicken, pork and beef recipes. LOL. I'm not confident in cooking. I'm glad that my husband can cook. I guess I have to learn cooking, too. I don't cook when I stay in our boarding house. I just prefer buying cooked food. They say I can save if I'll cook but vegies, meat, seasonings are getting more expensive nowadays. I guess buying cooked food is better. Cooking takes me time, too. I hope we'll learn how to cook someday.

Yes, I'm lucky to have him. He cooks very well. Sometimes, I don't want to eat food cooked by other people. My husband sometimes gets angry with me if I don't want to eat the food given to us. LOL.

LOL. I think he deserves your appreciation. I'm sure he tried his best to cook good foods for you. It's an insult to not eat what he has prepared. At least you won't have to prepare food yourself. :)

Someone once told me that if you don't have a family yet, meaning you eat alone or just for two people, you can save if you just buy cooked food. It is because you'll get to save the penny you'll pay for using the stove and everything. Unlike when you already have a family, the use of stove is worth it. LOL. Anyhow, it is good to know your husband loves to cook! If not, then you don't have a choice but to hire someone to cook for you. :D

Well, I deeply love eating. I like almost everything (I don't like fish that much). But when it comes to cook... hm... I like cooking to be honest. But I don't really want to do it, and then to wash the dishes. I love cooking pizza and pasta. I also love doing bbq (here in Argentina we call them Asado).

Most great cooks are men, they say. Right. The hard part is the washing and nobody wants to do it. Here in the Philippines, we call them "Sugba". Although "Asado" is also one term that we use, I'm not so sure whether it's fry or grill.

ye, i do cook good, but I am more than lazy to cook things! I just love eating and would rather sit and eat whole stomach than to cook food. I would love to cook for others specially if the person I am cooking to are food lovers. It gives us immense pleasure to see people loving the food that we have prepared!

yeah, i am just like you and when I really feel like doing something, then it is going to be a feast for my family and friends with the all delicious food made by myself. If I am not in a mood to prepare anything, then it is a treat from me or someone in a big grand hotel for a dinner together.

That is so true! I am a lazy person, too, when it comes to cooking. LOL. I guess that's one reason why I don't really cook much. I can only make desserts and foods that can be fried, but that's about it. Like you, I also want to see my loved ones eat good food. If I can cook, I would totally cook for them, but since I can't, I usually just buy and give them.lol

Before I got married, I was like that too. I cook now, but I am not as good as my mom. Thank God my boys are easy eater, they eat anything I cook. There are many simple and easy recipe now. You can just mix and match just like clothing. As long as you have the key ingredients such as soy sauce, worchester sauce, garlic, salt, pepper, brown sugar, vinegar, broth then you are good to go. When I want sweet stuffs, I just add brown sugar, or BBQ sauce. There are a lot of simple recipe. You can even use soup cans, salsa, or can tomatoes as part of the sauce. I usually go to Campbell to get easy recipe using their soup cans. So try it, you get the hang of it easily. After all a home cooking meal is much healthier and cheaper than eating out.

Yes, I agree. Most foods in the restaurants are expensive and at the same time unhealthy. The put a lot of preservatives for a better taste. Once in awhile, when I'm in the mood I do try to invent something to eat. However, most of the time I just go ask our cook to prepare something. lol. There are advantages and disadvantages if you have a cook.

I love to eat too :) I love food and it shows on my weight..hehe! but just like you, I can't cook and I don't enjoy cooking as well but as a wife I have to learn to cook even simple dishes. Now I know few simple pork and chicken recipes (I hate those complicated recipes) and my husband appreciate it very much whenever I cook which is very seldom though.

I'd say your husband is one understanding and loving man. He understands how hard it is for you, since you don't really cook. :P That's real sweet. Yes, I guess it's important for all of us, not just women, to know how to cook even simple food.

Please don't say you can cook. You can and you will.As this is the start so don't be too positive.Learn the skills.Read the recipes and follow it perfectly.Don't take any step for granted.Cooking is a science which has to be learned especially the basics and then you can and will be able to move on to complex cooking.I tell you this because this is how i did too.Earlier most things i tried to cook turned bad or not so good,It happens even now but only if i don't follow it properly. One has to think properly before attempting it.I also read a lot of cooking books techniques shows and either write down the tips or try to remember it.All the best.If i could you can too.

Thanks for the great encouragement! Really appreciate it. haha. Yes, I actually am a fan of cookbooks, as well. I have a lot of them bought from some bookstore. I agree how easy it is, if you just follow the instructions correctly. I guess I'm not really such a bad cook, I just depended on our cook/maid too much. :)

It's easy for me to cook when I have the recipe and instructions on how to go about it. But somehow it isn't quite the same when I compare the same dish with that of my Dad's, and he didn't even use a cookbook or anything. I guess there are really people who are gifted at this.

You are so right! I did try cooking with a cookbook, as well. LOL. Didn't even taste half as good as my sister's nanny! It can be learned, but most great cooks are gifted.

I also love to eat and only learn to cook when I got married. Thanks that my husband is a good cook and he taught me a lot when it comes to cooking. So I suggest that you must learn how to cook at an early age. Now I am teaching my kids to cook simple dishes so they can cook something for themselves when I am not around.

That's sweet. You get to learn from your other half. Thanks for your suggestion. I will have to think about that and I think I really should give it time.

Good for you, you know how to cook. Haha. I remember a couple of years back, one of the first things I confessed to my boyfriend was that I don't know how to cook. I guess some boys do get pissed off knowing their girlfriend knows nothing about cooking. However, I felt better to hear him say he doesn't mind and that his mother doesn't really cook all the time, since it's the cook's/maid's job. Saves me a lot. :)

LOL. Don't lose hope yet. As long as you try, you will get there. Try getting some easy cookbooks and just follow the simple instructions. I'm sure you'll be able to make something nice. I am not a great cook, too, but I guess I can make something whenever I'm hungry. hehe.

If you are willing to do some trial and error, you will improve. I learn best by trying it myself, other people learn best from watching others and copying them. Sometimes I learn from sites like allrecipe.com...and make sure to read the reviews of the recipe before I try it! They are very helpful. I also learn when I don't have all the ingredients and I have to make substitutions. I look up substitutions I can use and then become more confident adapting recipes on my own and cooking without recipes. Just keep at it and don't give up when you make a mistakes. Instead, investigate what went wrong and you will surely improve it next time!

Haha. The problem with me is that I'm just so lazy to try and try. I guess it's just not one of my hobbies. allrecipe.com is a great site. I've learned a lot of recipes there! =) Yeah. Recipes are just there to be your guide. The result of your cooking will always be depended on your taste and preference. Thank you for such encouragement. I feel like making sweets and desserts are more for me than cooking heavy meals. I guess i'll just stick to that. :)

I can cook but cooking is not my forte. I don't like cooking. I never cook at home so I thought I don't know how to cook too but when I live with my boyfriend in AU during my holiday I discover that I know the wife thing in the kitchen. He told me I am a good cook. Since I am not cooking at home I didn't know that I already knows how even without a recipe. I just imagine the taste and how they cook it and gotcha I did it well. Maybe you have to try with simple cooking first and small serve that way you learn slowly and they said cooking must be in your heart not just you are force to cook.

That's great news for you. That is true. Some people are just gifted that even without the recipe they can cook so well. I believe you are one of those few people. Yes, I agree. I usually do it when I feel like doing it. Then, most of the time the taste turns out just fine. Thanks for the advice!

That's my dilemma and a blessing. It's hard that I don't get to cook all my favorite food but I'm also glad because if I did, then I would weigh very, very heavily. I know how to cook one dish though and that is crab in coconut milk. I really enjoy eating this with plenty of rice. Have not cook this for a while since I'm trying to trim my rice consumption to once a week.

You will learn how to cook if you really wanted to. Plenty of cooking schools out there that can teach the proper technique. However, I agree with you, some are they're born with it. Well, I learn cooking when I was in high school, one of our subject is homemaking which includes cooking. It was just basic but it develops when I am away from my parents and having my own family. I just don't have any choice rather than, to cook. My first big event was when my son's firstday birthday, and so on. I also search some recipes from online and watch video tutorials in cooking and fruits arrangement.

Same here dear i love eating and cooking aswell, see cooking is not a rocket science its all about interests, generally it has been seen that people with keen interst can cook faster and better, i'll wont go far lets take my example i like cooking and i cook yummy undoubtdly but when i am in mood only then but when i am not in mood no matter how hard i try i cant cook, so its all about dedication and in the begining no doubt mc donalds too would have faced problems making yummy food but a consistency makes everythng perfect one day dont try keep trying i am sure in the coming days you defintily gonna beat KFC, bestiez for life ahead
