I love Skype! It's so awesome getting to see and talk to my daughter and grandson in California. My daughter plays guitar and sings and she always has a song for me when we Skype. My grandson is also musically inclined and plays the bass so he gets to ham it up for me too. I'm lucky enough to have a web cam built into my pc making it easier than ever to do. It's like making long distance phone calls even better than just talking on the phone. To get to see my family "in person" when they live so far away is so special to all of us. Do you use Skype to keep in touch with family and friends?

Yes, it's quite a handy one. Internet chatting, social networking sites are always the cheapest way of communications for me from different parts of the world. From family, friends, enemies LOL and prospective employers. It's hard to be living alone in a country you can't communicate very well because of language barrier. So it's good to have different ways of communications such as skype. By the way nice to know that you are like the Vontrapp Family, the singing family. Way to go.

My husband and I chat via Skype everyday though I'm only 59 km away from him. I can't go home everyday due to my work. There's no available transportation after 7pm. My work ends at 11pm. I guess he doesn't have to buy airtime load anymore to send me text messages and call me. He'll only buy if we don't have internet connection. Skype is great. It's a big help to us. We can see their faces while we talking to them. We can overcome our sadness for not seeing them in person thru Skype. Thanks for sharing and happy mylotting.

It must be awesome to be able to see your husband when you are so far away and can't get home. I'm sure it does overcome your sadness of not being with him.

You're right. Seeing him via Skype is better than just calling him on the phone. Thanks to Skype.

I'm not too good with all these smart/modern communication/chatting technologies, so my sons have to help me if I want to do it with my sister overseas. Otherwise, I'd just use the old phone calls method. And when I'm getting in touch with my mom who is also overseas, a phone call seems to be the best way to go. She tried to join my sister on a video chatting with me once, and she hated 'talking to a computer screen'...

I'm not good with all the technical stuff that is available. A friend showed me how to skype and am so happy that she did. Some people just can't get into pc's and all that is available to them.

I love Skype as well as it is one of the apps I use for my work. I'm working part time as an online tutor and skype works great for me. I can teach my students who are living from another country. I simply love it.

Hi friend, good to know you are keeping touch with your family members using skype. Really the technology items help us a lot to keep in touch with our friends and beloved persons even though they are living far away. I too have my skype account and used it to chat and talk with my brother when he is in US.

I have been keeping in touch with my family via skype as well and it is good thing that we can see the person. I recently saw my granny on skype and she was so happy to see me too. i miss my family but then skype comes in very handy and if we talk everyday, it does not seem that we are so so away away. It is nice to hear that your daughter and kids sings for you while skyping. I sure you are loving it and enjoying every moment of it. Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day ahead..

Skype is really of great help to me.It is the connection I use to let my students in Korea communicate with me.However there are really times that it''s not working well. Moreover, it makes the word so small to be able to see our love ones all over the world.

Hi ctryhnny. Well for now I use only phone to stay in touch with my friends because of my busy daily schedule. But in case of my girlfriend she always pushes me to use skype. She cant stay calm if she does not see me in at least three days. So I do agree with you on skype being such a life saver. But there is so much connectivity problem here. So the video is very poor most of the times. I wish the internet connection was better to have an uninterrupted conversation. Anyways good to see that technology has made your life so convenient. Anyways have a nice day ... -SuperShames-

Definitely, Skype is impressive. Its performance is good. I also used it before when I contacted my sister who was in Canada up to the present. However, this means of communication is only beneficial to those who have camera on their computer unit either built in or not. I think Facebook is also great. Just imagine I can connect my friends, colleagues, batch-mates, co-workers and many people whom I have met once. Facebook doesn't need camera, though recently their new application for cam chatting requires one. Just in case you don't have cam, you can post message or email a friend or family member. Just in case your signal is faint for Skype try Facebook.
