Yesterday I read a news from the newspaper and a salon staff died from the cancer. She is very young who is around 22 years old. It seems that she often dealt with the chemical products about hair, such as the dying product. So it leads her to have the cancer. So it is better not to dye your hair over twice a year.

I believe that there is a tendency to say that everything you breather, eat or do will cause cancer. I eat butter, I get cancer. I breathe the air of the city I live, I get cancer. Hoe do you explain the little children who die of cancer, no hair dye, no smoking, not doing anything wrong but just being little active boys and girls? There`s a lot to study about cancer and other illness yet.

But using a lot of chemical material is not healthy.

We are all using all kinds of chemicals. Our clothes are made from manmade fibers and so are most of the things we use. Our food is transgenic and has lots of aditives. Our air is polluted and so is water. A hair dye is not significant.

It's so sad to hear that, and the salon staff has to deal with the chemical products always. I thought it's quite common for someone to dye their twice a year especially the color has faded.

This is why they have to put on gloves to dye the hair for their customers.

To much in contact of those hair dye chemical into your system is not a safe practice. It is likely her over exposure to those chemical substances that are beyond her immune threshold caused such a tragic end for her. You are right not to dye your hair so many time a year, the less you come in contact with the hair dye chemical, the less chances you will be infected with this deadly disease, i am glad you realize about the danger come with using hair dye chemical too often.

Now a days, EVERYTHING causes cancer! It is getting ridiculous. Thank God just in case I only dye my hair at home twice a year but still, it is worriesome to hear. I have heard so many things causing cancer now. The better question to ask is...What does NOT cause cancer?!?

That is so unfortunate... when did she start dyeing her hair... because she is so young... i think there are other factors which contributed to the cancer... the salon is full of chemicals not just those for dyeing hair... It has been years since i last dyed my hair... but last year i had it rebonded but i don't think i want to go through that again... i hate the smell of the chemicals used in the process...

You are right. But dying the hair so often will also create more possibility to have cancer.

I feel sad to hear that caused by frequent touch of those chemicals used for dying hair. I used to have this nice lady barber, who developed some skin disease with her fingers. She was very skillful in her work, but she had to stop working as a barber or hairdresser because of this. But for us who have our hair dyed, it is a little different. Yet it is still not a good idea to have hair dyed every so often. In spite of that, I still have my hair dyed black once a month as I hate to see those gray hairs. I will only stop having my hair dyed when I get retired in another fifteen years or so. It is a long way to go for my hair not to be dyed. I admire those older than me without any gray hair. If only I had no gray hair!

Perhaps we think so much and therefore we will grow gray hair. When we are retired and the life is relaxing, perhaps we will look younger

Really? Oh Gosh! Good thing I just color my hair utmost 2x in a year mainly because I do not want to spend too much on unnecessary thing. I usually color my hair when I need to attend to a certain event. I think that rebonding your hair too much could be harmful as well, but I am not sure how much damage it can do to a person. I have never tried that because I do not want my hair to bee that straight. I want my hair to be a bit wavy to add volume. Thanks for that useful information. I am sure you are going to save a lot of membrs here who might be coloring their hair more than 2x in a year.

i dye my hair once a year but the salon where i dye my hair says that i can dye my hair every three month but for me for just for safety reasons i only do it once a year and sometimes if i`m kinda lazy i don`t do it.. i believe that those chemical are harmful if you are over exposed to it..
