Close encounter with an arrogant male teller

I have a dollar account in PNB Monumento where I visit at least a month to pay my credit card bills and/or deposit or withdraw money. PNB stands for Philippine National Bank, and yet they have this arrogant, rude male teller who behaves as if he's a boss and we owe him our money and time. I started noticing the attitude of this worker of theirs a few months back, when I withdraw a certain amount and they gave me loose bills, so I need an envelope to put all those money in so I ask one from this male teller. This dude never even bothered to look around for any used envelope knowing that its a bank where there should be plenty of them around. Instead, he just said in tagalog, "wala kaming envelope eh" as if again, he owns the bank. I just let this passed because I have no time for these types of unprofessional people. Then last month, I made a withdrawal again. It just happened that I went there around 4:00 pm and they are almost closed so I was one of the only two depositors left. Once he gave me my money I begin counting it, but I thought he gave me fewer so I politely asked if what he gave me was right amount. From which he rudely replied, "SYEMPRE!". These unpleasant treatments plus their office open only up to 4:00 pm makes me consider to transfer all my money into another bank. Do you have similar experiences with your own bank?

Hello...I think you can't blame him for behaving like that. PNB is one of the biggest bank in our country that caters to almost anybody. Almost all of their branches nationwide are being flooded by people to conduct business with them...So naturally, they are pressured and stressed always....but again, they should be behaving professionally and that they should treat every customers as a family.

It is not an excuse for them to be rude with their clients. If he can't handle the pressure of the job then quit and find some other that would fit his personality. In a bank setting the clients are the ones lending their money to the bank and they should respect all their clients because they are the ones that put money in them. That should be the mindset of every employee that works there.

I agree with you. I've seen many employees who can't really handle the pressure of their jobs. And they use that to treat their customers badly which like you said, is not an excuse. We, customers, deserve good and quality service. I myself is a frontliner and even if it is my break time and having a nap, my colleague would wake me up to attend a customer that just come in and I never really complain. In fact, I am very careful in dealing with customers because if you did something that they find rude, they have the right to complain and I do not want that to happen.

Clients are the top priorities of bank. If they have no clients, there is no point in being a bank.

Hi greenpeas. The companies who are offering this kind of services to its clients should always bear in mind that the clients are the one giving them salary so they have no right to treat anybody rudely. If I would be on that situation, I would ask that bank teller who is the manager of the bank outright. Then I will either submit a formal complaint and/or approach the manager and call his/her attention on the particular matter. Have a nice day!

bills in our bank should be bundled in like a paper bundle where it has a number and a signature of the person who checked it, If the count is correct and they do not have an envelope ask for a rubber band instead. I can't stand these types of people, I would get he's name if I were you and call up the main office and report his rude actions or if you know the manager, perhaps he's just jealous of your withdrawals as compared to the salary he gets

THat's a great Idea but what does he care about some one else's money for? what a real idiot. I don't even have a job and this guys gets jealous over some depositor who happens to be their client?! he had the nerve, maybe he and I can exchange jobs! right the main officer should be notified of this persons behavior

I call my not so good experience with my bank, bank stress. I have lots of it so thi might be my last transaction to them To tell the complete story, it goes like this. I went to ATM just outside the branch to withdraw the amount of 45,000. I don't know that that maximum withdrawable amout per transaction is only 25,000. So I took the longer time in the mchine. On the third time that I had punched my needed money, it says that I had tried the maximum allowable pins in a day. So I went inside the bank to tell how did that happened when what was wrong was I punched the wrong withdrawable amount. Bank staff didn't give me an explanation and say that I can withdraw over the counter. I asked them to check what's my balance and she told me the balance was still whole without any transaction for that day. So I withdraw over the counter the amounbt of 45,000. Later that day, I checked again over atm and it says that I had withdrawn 25,000 earlier and 45,000! So you see, they had the record that I had withdrawn 25,000. Until now, there is an investigation case. The thing in here is that bank seems can't accept the fact that there had been glitch in their machine. :( I believe bank staffs and people related to customer service should be friendly and approachable. Their salaries also came from us -- their valuable clients. I teach my kids to do their banking and savings at this early stage in their life but because of rude bank staffs, my kids are afraid to approach them. Do you think they are helping their company in that way?

These people feels so superior. They feel like they are the master and we are the slaves, so low for their level. When in fact, it's the other way round because you're right, their salaries came from their valuable clients. So rude of them.

Do your job well! Just do your best and it will be - Do your job well! Just do your best and it will be okay!
The best way to deal with any unprofessional commercial organizations is not to give them any business. Move your dealings elsewhere. Don't let them be profitable from you, a dissatisfied customer. Let them learn their lesson when they are near to closing shop for the lack of customers. But if that is just an isolated case and you feel that the bank concerned has been serving you well, then it is just a problem of a recalcitrant worker. He/she should be reported to his/her superior. But before we do that, we must make sure that the incident is not a result of our own over-sensibility and that our demand was within reasons, because the report that we make to his/her superior will impact the worker's career prospects in that bank. We have to be careful not to break someone's rice bowl just because of something minor.

I can relate with your not so good experience with bank people. I just notice how this guy behaved... you sure he's a he and not a she? no offense a real man won't behave like that though unless there's a she inside of him. I behave like that with hubby sometimes when I'm not in the mood because I'm girl and I think that's acceptable. You know what.. I stay away from people like that or else I'll be confronting him when he behaves like that towards me again and again. If you are not comfortable in that bank I suggest that you better transfer your account to different bank. Then when they have a suggestion bank write there and tell your story. It's not that you want him to lost his job, just them the higher officer know that they losing clients because of such attitude. Just think of those people who are afraid to enter banks and those who just open an account and still needs assistance, then that guy was the one to assist them... poor people, they might feel its their fault reason why they got scolded. Just think of helpers (who came from the province) who was being asked to go there to do transactions. Think how they feel when is faced with that guy. Sorry I got carried away. hahahaha!

You own the money and you have every right to do whatever you want. If that is the attitude of the teller however, that may not be the attitude of the rest. Sad to note that it will affect the whole. Perhaps if such incident occurs again, then tell the guy frankly about his rudeness and from there see his response. It could be possible that he was just misinterpreted. But if you are right.. Then it's time for transfer.

Is PNB a government owned bank? I have not had a bad experience with a bank teller but I have experienced the same treatment with others like when I was in Pasig Hall of Justice, I was really surprised on how some of the employees treated us. They even justified their behavior for telling us that they haven't got enough rest during work hours. So are we really going to work to rest? And they treat you as if you are a beggar or asking for a solicitation. I was very disappointed back then and thought of reporting them to civil service commission but my husband told me to just forget what happened because that would take our time. They are actually very rude, the most rude employees I've met in my whole life. What is annoying is that they do not even let you speak or say your concerns and explanations. They will shut you off. But in my honest opinion, I think that they should be terminated because they are public servants. Who gave them the right to shout at people and give them that kind of treatment. As for your experience, even if this teller owns this bank, I think that he has no right to give bad treatments to their customers. I am not sure as to where we could report this kind of incidents, not sure if it is DTI.

I don't have such experienced because bank workers in my place have a good etiquette. They have good training on how to deal with the clients. They are well dressed and very very courteous and if they will deal you negatively or arrogantly , you can approach the manager. That is why i wonder why you withdraw your accounts , you should have talk to the higher management so this person would be called and be given a lecture or a lesson. You did not report to the higher management , this arrogant will enjoy his being arrogant and will do same to other people. WE should not tolerate this kind of people. Next time if you will experience same , don't think twice but report them to the management , for its your right ..be aware of customer's rights.

Well, it's really annoying when one encounters arrogant person not only the teller; there is also an arrogant receptionist, saleslady, etc. Sometimes I think that the president of the company is more accomodating rather than his employees. These people need to be trained by their administrators. Have a nice day!

He needs to be reported to the supervisor. If the bank refuses to help him change his attitude and he continues to offend customers, then certainly you should move your funds to another bank. I have changed banks with less reason than that. I was asked for an id at my daughter's bank before I could make a deposit into her account. She spoke with the manager about why I needed an id to put money into her account. She was not given a resonable explanation and she changed to another bank. Good luck!

Wow! That's just plain rude! To think that he is one of the front liners of a customer oriented establishment, very poor behavior. I'd say if you would want to hear my opinion, you should've gone to the branch manager to complain about him, or you could write a letter to the bank about that teller. Employees like that destroys certain company's reputation. With that being done to you, I'd say change your bank. There are a lot of banks out there with nice and friendly tellers ready to help you. Luckily, my bank is not like that, they are friendly and accommodating. If you have several transactions with a bank, I'm sure tellers would be familiar with you and should treat you much nicely, because you are a valued client. But with what you shared here, I think its time to go elsewhere.

You can report that to the bank manager. They should not be as arrogant as that. Maybe he has a monthly period and it so happened that you are the one whom he last picked on. LOL. No I don't have usually the tellers are nice and respectful, it is a must for them so no one will complain about their behavior. You should have so that he will change his attitude towards the bank's customers.

So graceful of you that you didnt stoop down to his level. Don't bother to argue with these kind of people, theyre not worth it. If you want to transfer, leave a piece of something for this guy. Leave a letter or a note to the management telling about their employee's behaviour towards their clients. At least somehow, you got your piece of revenge in a quite way. Have a great day!

He was rude indeed. I think he deserves to be reported to his superiors for acting like that. I think they have the number wherein you can report him and be given the disciplinary action on his behavior. Well I guess the 4pm is the same with most banks except BDO which I think opens up to 5:30pm as for the rest most of them closes even at 3pm and 4pm.

What a rude SOAB... you should definitely report him to his supervisor or bank manager... such an attitude is uncalled for... especially among bank employees... if that happened to me... it would have been AMALAYER part 2... but before you transfer all you money to another bank... you should definitely talk to the manager... you do not deserve that... since you are a valued customer... I work part time as a mystery shopper so i know the importance of treating customers the proper way...

Hello Greenpeas, Don't think, just DO IT buddy! start looking for another bank better than PNB, who knows they might loose their standing like Bangco de Oro did. always invest or deposit on popular and strong standing banks today and not those who are dying! You need to tell the manager about this, don't let this get away. your a depositor, and not to mention a CLIENT! fight for your right to be serve WELL. otherwise, just withdraw the WHOLE thing and have it close then make LOUD complain on that teller.

Thank God, I haven't experienced this yet. but what you should do is report his behavior to the branch manager, this kind of attitude would and should never be tolerated. if not for the depositors, do they think their services would still be needed? talk to his superior because this kind of behavior and these kind of people should be taught how to properly treat their clients.
