Adrenaline Rushes in Malacanyang!

The media packed in the small press room in Malacanyang Palace yesterday. Word has it that the international community leaders are bullish about a contention made by President Aquino at the ASEAN in Myanmar. To quote the media briefing, it was inevitable that the President raise his hand, while the Cambodian Minister was delivering a speech, because our President had to clarify that there was no consensus made, as far as talks about territorial claims are concerned. Points the President stressed: 1. That there is no consensus, as claimed by China and Cambodia, that the ASEAN had agreed to talk about the territorial claim on the shoal at the West Philippine Sea on the ASEAN level. The majority vote, on such matters, does not rule here, it has got to be unanimous or no deal at all. 2. That territorial claims can be elevated to the United Nations, wherein all exploratory talks must adhere to a code of conduct, and as such, claiming nations can avoid power play at the seas. It was only because of time constraint that only five nations were able to deliver responses on the Aquino intervention, all of which agreed with and commended the Philippine leader on such a strong stance. That was why the adrenaline was rushing in Malacanyang, the world never expected that the lesson on principle would come from such a tiny nation. I have not commented on the President for a long time, sort of allowing him work on his job as president without senseless criticisms from the people he serves. I think I am right on that, now we know that we have a President not only honest and sincere, we have a courageous President who would not hesitate to point out what is erring, uphold a principle when others would not dare challenge, and one brave enough to fight for these islands and the people he so loves.

Its heartwarming to see Southeast Asian nations standing up for itself instead of being intimidated and submitting to the whims of China as usual. I thought the last meeting will be another China and some Southeast Asian nations type of meeting, but it turns out into a stronger ASEAN meeting, with the exception of Cambodia which as predicted, acted like a loyal servant of China.

Cambodia is also a small nation, but the ASEAN countries would have been better if every tiny nation does not yield to China's power play. That is why it is important, what the president did, to suggest that the talks be elevated to the United Nations, so we could have the support of the mighty nations in case China becomes even more aggressive. The Philippines is a David to China's Goliath. But of course we know who was victorious in that story.

Here's a story or prediction and advisement the reality now might be true, but hey, as I said, the armor, the shield and the sword was beaten by a sling and a stone. They can go saying what they like. They might eat their own words anyway. http://ph.news.yahoo.com/blogs/the-inbox/ph-face-reality-china-rules-world-140027704.html

This is all just plain propaganda like North Korea and too much sensationalizing coming from the Media. they're like the larger version of the NK but fortunately, not all of their are brainwashed by the government.

Hello Eileenleyva, I've read that Five or Four nation leaders will have a meeting in Manila this December 12 for a common ground stand against China's aggressive moves while using this puppet Cambodian Host or Minister of ASEAN to do what they pleases. It's a pain, that the president himself is Chinese and yet CHINA doesn't recognize that at all! doesn't even care if there's chinese or Fil-chinese in the Philippines... I think the president is right to resist and must have a real conversation and not just being puppeted by the Large Nation like China. even Japan is showing their support to the Pilippines in terms of island disputes. what's wrong with Joint Ownership anyways, so lame their goal is having a South China Sea for themselves.

China is asserting its position as world super power, seriously challenging America for world domination. Of course China wants to secure its neighborhood, and what better way to do it than claim the neighboring islands, and seas, for strategic defense. It is not fair though to invoke the blood lines at this point. The President was born Filipino, and after around six hundred years trading with the Chinese, who among us has no Chinese blood? Am sure you yourself, Knight has some percentage. Even Spanish, after three hundred years, the blood runs in our veins. We are a mixture of races. Joint ownership? That is bizarre. I won't share my real property rights with anyone. And to whom the residents of the shoal would pledge allegiance to? What national anthem are they going to sing?

My great grand father is Spanish, so as my mom i think. there's joint ownership in africa, it's been done. am sure this will happen too. we can't have spratleys for ourselves too, it would be too greedy for us.

Yeah I guess I have to agree with your point. I think Philippines should stand tall and proud when our territorial integrity is being breach by a bully nation like China. I guess China has many disputes with neighbor as well like Japan, Vietnam and us. I am hoping that with what the President has done would make China think twice for being a bully in here. It is obvious that China wants these islets for the resources that may be in the place. For a long time this place was never claimed by anyone because they have not realized that potential richness of the place. I think this was an abandoned groups of island but now they are heavily contested by several nations already.

China needs the shoal as a first line of defense. They could anchor their battleships there. They are doing it to Japan, too, in the North. As if the world needs more war, sigh! But China is bent on world domination. For all we know, their submarines are already somewhere in the Philippine Deep.

I am not yellow, red, green, nor orange. My skin is brown, and I am Filipino. I criticized public servants not because I am blinded by any political colors but because I see it fit. If they did right then we must recommend his actions and give where credit is due. I give Pnoy a two thumbs up for what he did in Asean. Hope he will not buck down to pressure. His success is our success and I will support him on this endeavor. I salute you this time! Have a nice day. Ciao!

I am not pro Aquino but on this point, I salute him on what he has done. Good he stood up firm on his ground for the benefit of the whole nation. May all of us salute the good and brave stance he did to let the whole world know that the Government of the Philippines will not remain silent about her proper rights.
