So as all of you know I went to my family's house today for Thanksgiving. My mom and her boyfriend were fighting as usual, My sister was somewhat nice to me but all around It was a good day. Me and my son stayed away from the fighting and arguing and hung out(my cousin, her kids). Then her and her kids, me and my son all went back to her house (where me and my son are staying at the moment)to have a peacful rest of the night together. Overall my day went pretty well. I was expecting it to go a lot worse than it did...
How was you Thanksgiving?? Did you have a good day too??

I am sorry that you think that your day went well.
It must be terrible for you and your son when your parents fight all the time.
And it hurts too.
They are grown ups and should think about that!
And you should tell them what you think and feel about that

Honestly I've tried talking to my mom about the way she treats me and how she ruins the holidays for me and she does not understand or just does not care. For Christmas its just going to be me and my son and my cousins family cause we all get along and we will have a great Christmas day without problems. Thanks for your response.

Yeah i think so. I haven't told her yet what my plans are for Christmas yet but i plan to let her i know i made these plans because of the way she treats me. Hopefully that will open her eyes a little more.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in our country. I'm glad to hear that you made it through. I hope your mom and her bf won't fight if there are visitors around. It's not good especially if there are children around. They should keep their fights to themselves. It was Thanksgiving so maybe they've had enjoyed it well when they didn't fight. Well, it's good that it didn't get worse. Thanks for sharing and happy mylotting.

Yes, you're right. That's why I don't want to fight with my husband in front of our child. But sometimes, I can'treally help it. I hope our son won't imitate us when he's already married too. LOL. Thanks for the comment prashu and happy mylotting.

I agree children have bad affect when the elders of the family fight. Being elders of the family they should realize this.

Angelkarah050182 thanks for your response. It seems like my mother is only happy when shes making others day miserable no matter who it is. I dont understand it. And i agree with both u and prashu228 Children should not be around the fighting. My son screams everytime he hears fighting and if its not healthy for adults to be around its really not healthy for a little child to be around. Thanks for your responses.

I am so jealous of you that you got to soak in a hot tub. I wish i could of but even without it im glad i had a great day. Im glad you had a good day too.

Our Thanksgiving is in October so we have outs way before yours. I had to work until about 530pm, which was nice so I had limited time with the family. My family is insane, and very negativee, so I try to avoid them at all costs. We had a good dinner, and then just went our seperate ways. They all got drunk, while I sat on MyLot and spent the night alone.

Hi friend, good to know about your thanks giving, as you mentioned your mother is having fight with her BF, so it is not a calm environment, so you went out with your cousin and enjoyed a lot with her in her house. We don't have this kind of thanks giving celebrations in our place

I won't say it was a wonderful thanksgiving for me. It was a decent one, and I took my parents out for lunch. Then we bought some nice food back home, and my mom cook a nice dinner for all of us. We didn't like Turkey though, but we can substitute it with something else. We still have a bountiful nice dinner at home. Fighting and arguing, that it didn't happen for today.

My son did enjoy his first thanksgiving. Hes still trying to get better after being so sick so he slept half the day but the time he was awake he enjoyed.

Wow, I remembered replying to you previous discussion on whether you'll go or not. It's really great that you gathered enough courage to go to your family Thanksgiving. At least it shows that you still have respect for you family. It's good that you stayed away from the fighting, at least you were able to enjoy your day. Happy thanksgiving again!

Thanks for responding again. Yes i did gain the courage to go because i had other family members there who really wanted me to go also besides my mother. I tried everything i could to keep the peace but in the end it was not a bad day. Hope you enjoyed you day too.

Cheers to having a nice holiday. This time of year is pretty stressful on a lot of people and I'm blessed that I have an awesome family as a support system. No one fought, we ate a ton and it's one in the morning and I'm still stuffed! I'm afraid if I lay down to go to bed I may put myself in a coma. Have a great one, girl!

It is happened in my life many times that i tried to visit some places for rest, relaxation and enjoyment but i found very different situation that people were shouting on some one, fighting with each other so my role were to clear the situation like i always try to make them happy by talking with both parties to make their patch up.
anyhow, it make me smile when i think that it is better to find happiness but give others reasons to keep them happy, so it will definitely returns happiness to you as well.
