Ugh, I'm so upset the job I am working at (okay I'll tell everyone where I work at I work at Wal Mart and I hate it I'm so trying to get away from this place.) But anyway, they are chopping off my hours and what upsets me even more, okay they didn't even chop off just a little bit of my hours, but for a whole 2 weeks, I only have 5 hours. I'm like really, that's all I get. I talk to my managers at the store and I say hey whats going on and are these hours even right. I mean there are even other people who are getting more hours then me and I feel like I'm the only person who gets a whole freaking week off. Anyway, I've been told that there is nothing they can do about it and bla bla bla and I they can't change it and all they say is I'm sorry but no you have no hours for the week. I'm like really, so now all I get is 5 hours. What the hell am I supposed to do with that. I am so aggrivated. This just proves even more I need another job. I can't believe that Wal Mart is doing this to their workers. There is this one girl that I work with and she only has 9 hours and she lives alone and that is like money that she pays her rent with and buys food for herself. I feel really bad for her. Cause that's all she gets. There are other people who are in the situation like her as well. Me I am greatful that at least, my husband has a full time job and does not cut down on his hours. Thank God, but still we depend a lot on my check and to have hours like that is ridiculous. And of all the times, this happens around the holidays. So, I know what I'll be doing with all this time off. I'm looking for a new job and once I find it I quit. I can't take all this torture from Wal Mart any more. I plan to never go back to Wal Mart again for a job, because they treat us like crap. I'm so upset. . But anyway, I just wanted to rant a little and I guess i feel a little better. Besides looking for another job I'll be spending more time on Mylot making extra money with all my other work at home jobs and try to make a little extra money. Cause I sure know we're going to need it. There was this customer who came in the store today and was like are yall doing the strike thing. I live in Texas, I'm like no. Sounding all sad. She was like you don't sound too happy about it. I lied to her and sad nah we're good here. But I'm like in the back of my head, all the workers who are getting their hours cut, we should all go on a strike. Heck yeah they want us to spend our Thanksgiving day working and being there for black friday, but after they use us and abuse us, they are like oh by the way we're cutting your hours happy holidays.

Sorry your hours are getting cut but I know what you mean. Right now they are not cutting back too much where I work but what upsets me is that people who have less seniority then me are getting more hours and I dont think that's fair at all. I have the most seniority in the department so I think I should get the first pick in everything as far as days off requested and stuff like that. I just dont think tey care about senority at all and that's not fair.

I think that is messed up too, yeah I think that they should give you more seniority. It isn't fair. Were I am at they are giving more hours to the full time people and just cutting more and more off part time people. I wish I was full time, but unfortunately they hired me as part time. Then the even worse part about it I have other friends who are part time and they got more hours then me. I don't know how I'll survive with just 5 hours for 2 weeks. Thankfully though my hubby is working, things are going to be a bit tight for us. I guess though we'll have to try to make it through and hopefully I find another job that will actually give me more hours. There are people who for one week gets 15 hours and that one week I have none and the next week they get 9 hours and 15 hours again and I just get 5. I hope I get something soon.

Our society is no longer the same. People are greedy and selfish. Problem is as I see it, you have a job and to complain about working on a holiday is silly. Do you realize how lucky you are to have a job? Millions of jobs are lost everyday, families are forced into forclosure their homes, going without food, and you have the tenacity to complain because you are working, yeah so what, it's at Walmart, but you have a pay check coming in every two weeks. Why don't you start being thankful for what you do have. Lets remember what happened to all those Hostess workers that went on strike. More money, more hours...now, they have nothing. Hostess went out of business and now those people that went on strike don't even have that job anymore. Want more? Get another job.

Did you even read the entire response, or did you just read 2 sentences and decided to respond so you can earn something. Honestly in my opinion I think you read none of it at all and just saw wal mart and decided oh this person must hate working at wal mart. You know what I am glad to have a job and I am not complaining that I do have one, you know I am very greatful to have a job despite all other people who have no jobs. But then I must say I would love to have a job that would actually give me more hours. Hello, I only have 5 hours. Wake up your eyes and actually read the response. I am a part time associate and I am supposed to at least get 25 hours. If you can tell me how you would want to work at a job, that first does not give you no hours and I mean no hours at all for one week and only a measely 5 hours for the next. Then more power to you. And you call me greedy and selfish ha I think not I think you're ignorant and just post for a measly few cents if you ask me. I'm not greedy or selfish in fact I think I have a right to more hours and I'm sure plenty of other people would agree with me. You say find another job, well if you would have read the discussion you would have noticed that hello, I do plan on finding another job because hello I'm not getting any more hours. Being that I doubt you're not going to read this response at all I'm sure. So I will move on. Once again thanks for your stupid response.

You are stating nothing as far as I can see and what do you think I'm doing as far as I remember I have the right to rant about anything on here as much as other people do on here. And once again I believe you didn't read nothing just put your two sense in but I really don't care. I have nothing to explain to you.I think you're being inconsiderate for not even understanding where I am coming from. Put yourself in my shoes for one minute, then yeah maybe you'd understand and its not even selfish on my part. I'm stating my own facts whats the point of having this job if I don't get hours. Yeah I can see what people are going through from hostess, yeah I'm going through it too, I just have a job that won't give me no hours and no hours mean no money. Oh and believe me I am searching for another job. I have a right to rant and rant I will. Thank you very much.

You might be able to open up an unemployment claim and so might the other gal who is only getting 9 hours a week. I work in a call center and usually work 16-20 hours a week. A couple of years back, my hours were cut to nothing. I was not scheduled. I opened an unemployment claim. The reason was reduced hours. My company tried to fight it but I won. If you have a permanent job, even p.t., and your hours are cut, you can open up an unemployment claim. I live in Texas, also. I was at a gathering the other night and persons were talking about how bad Walmart treats their employees. Do they offer any benefits? What is the pay like?

That is good to know, that is what one associate told me, she was like if you don't find work and they keep cutting your hours file unemployment. Was kind of iffy about it being that I was part time, but I will look into it, if they continue to keep up with it. Or I can't find work. They are giving benefits, but I hear they really are not good at all. But I am under my husband's benefits. But I believe it is true, that Wal Mart does treat their employees badly. My mom was explaining though the reason they are cutting hours and only on the part time associates is because they first can't cut the full time associates hours and so now they have to turn to the part time associates and then also, because they don't want to pay benefits to their associates. I'm just going to search for another job, because I can't handle being there any more not how they treat us. Its not just because of the cut hours either and I can't believe they are even doing that, when we don't even have enough associates in our store to begin with and on top of that its the holidays, you would think this would be the time of the year where they wouldn't want to cut their associates hours if anything.

I'm very sorry that happened to u. I work as a housekeeper at a nursing home amd at first it was great. Then last month my hours were cut to just 10 hrs a week. So I started looking for another job. I haven't found one but my hubby has. I'm working independantly now but I haven't generated any income yet but I know I will soon! When I got my hours cut I didn't know what to do. I asked my supervisor and she said the company we r with has done that to everyone. Something about over budget..

I have a few ideas on what I can do at home to earn some extra money. But right now it is so hard to even find a job. I've been looking every where. I'm just at least greatfull that my husband has a full time job. But I will continue to look and at least try to find some work and then leave. That's the only thing that I can do right now.

I feel very sorry for your heavy overtime work. I am really confused that WalMart is in the 500 fortune, which should be excellent in all fields, especially caring the staff. However, according to your description, the company's policy is in lack of humanity. I just wanna know whether you will get exta payment or bonus for your overtime work, if so it can be understanding coz the market is very busy and short of staff. But if not, i think you really need a fight. I konw you are buried in your work, but sooner or later you will leave the company and find a better employer. Hope you lead a haoppy work in the future..:)

Actually its not overtime I'm getting, I wish it was that I was getting. I'd be ever more greatful. But I'm not getting any hours at all. I'm not sure why but my mom explained to me that it may have to do with the strike that is going on but our store isn't under strike and also because they don't want to pay people's benefits. So, they can't cut the overtime people's hours, but they can cut the part time people's hours. Which sucks for me, because I am only working part time, which is how they hired me. But I do hope with all this time off I do find a better job. I really hope so at least someone who can give me some hours.
