How many showers do you have a day?

Normally I have 1 bath, unless something like I go to work and fall in a mud pudding and get covered head to toe. We pay for our water here, the bill is usually between 200$ - $800 A MONTH! Thats right you read it. My parents were complaining saying they will be raising our rent (mys sister and I). Now right now I am going on 3 days without a shower (yes yes you heard it). I went for my iron infusion I dont want to go sit in a bath and get out cold outside, same with my colonoscopy, so today I am going up to have one. My younger brother on the other hand had a shower this morning (at 6am and went to an exam), came home had another one (this was on 2 -3 hours later), its now 1:30 in the afternoon and he is after another, he will most likely have 2 -3 more showers before he goes to bed. So I very nicely pointed out his OCD behaviour, and why should I pay for him to waste more water, I could see if I was having 6 showers a day. I asked a few friends and one friends has one in the morning, and one at night she says because the one in the morning wakes her up, the one at night puts her to sleep, but she also works outside in muck.

I have maybe two a day, and I say maybe. If I take a shower early then get all dirty grimy I'll take another, but if not I don't. Sometimes I just wash off and not shower at al, but I always try to shower or smell clean and fresh for work or when going out. I don't waste much water, I can take a shower in one minute if I have to, and I have before. My uncle once took a shower for over an hour. I was in the computer room, the room attached to the bathroom and the shower just kept going. Finally I went to tell my grandmother and she told him to get out. He had problems then, still does, but in his mind he had only been in the shower for ten minutes. A month later when the bill came my grandfather said something like "Someone needs to pay me for this water bill" he didn't say me but I was in the room, and I knew it was directed at me. My grandmother took him aside and told him that it wasn't me at all, that I'd only taken ten minute showers at best, and that my uncle had been in there for over an hour one day that we know of. Nothing more was said. In any case, I think that your mother and father seem to have rose colored glasses on when it comes to your youngest sibiling. They let him get by with far too much and they shouldn't. He needs to be responsible for his actions and find a way to pack them for his water usage or not use as much either way.

1 to 3 a day? wow. I know that when you have cheap toilet paper you use more because it breaks easily, but even so I don't use 1 to 3 a day? I buy my own toilet paper when I can and I buy the Charmin Ultra Soft, four rolls lasts me like a whole month. Through all your discussions it seems more your mom then your dad, I almost feel bad for him when you all do move out, because he'll have her (your mom) to deal with alone.

He is in the showers for long periods of time as well. He has been in for a few hours, and meanwhile the rest of going to work without showers. Just how he misuses the toilet paper as well, he uses 1 - 3 rolls a day. I cant wait when me and my sister move out, and all these bills are still there. I think they see it all, at least my Dad does anyways. He doesnt say much its more my mother. I told them to proof it to me, and give me the bill and the amount of water I use if it means measuring it out of the tub (as I only fill it up half way).

One shower a day is fine for me unless I did a lot of physical labor or was covered in dirt/chemicals, which isn't all that often. It sounds like your household should try to reduce water consumption in other areas...teach your brother to shower less often, or take shorter showers, turn off the water while lathering, etc. You could try putting up some kind of chart in the bathroom where people record their time in/out of the shower each day (and how many showers). It doesn't have to be permanent, but writing it down and seeing how it all adds up could help people think about how much water they're using.

He doesnt see the point, because he isnt paying for anything. He will misuse it until he learn the meaning of responsibility. We have lower rates before certain times in the morning, and after a certain time at night which we wash the dishes, and the washer running. It comes down to him taking 3 -6 showers a day or more, and in their for 30 - 40 minutes at a time.

I take one shower a day. My son takes one shower a day. My daughter takes a bath about 4 times a week. Her skin is so dry or it would be more often. Our water bill is the same all the time, so we could shower 12 times a day and it wouldn't matter. I get a bill or water and trash all rolled into one and it is $90 every 3 months.

Your parents raised quite the son. Just keep telling yourself that you will soon be out of there. Then, your parents can be left to deal with the son they raised, and you will have peace and quiet... and significantly lower water bills.

I know if I was living on my own it would be very limited. I have been looking into getting a mobile home, and most of the time the water is included in the monthly fee. But even hydro would be a lot lower as well.

I take one bath a day. My husband usually takes 2 per day, one before work in the morning and then one after work. My cousin usually takes 1 or 2 per day too here. Water is expensive here but not as much as yours thats for sure. We pay about $100-$150 per month. Your brother really is ridiculous it seems to me. No one needs a shower that many times a day! Geez! Does he have to pay anything?!?

I can see that, and I can see if you worked out, worked in the mud, or something along those lines but he doesnt lift a finger to work a sweat. No, he doesnt pay anything (I really mean that). My parents were saying they were raising the rent for my sister and I and I told them to show me proof of this bill, and the proof of how much I use. They pulled up their bank account he uses their credit card for clothing, gas, taking his girlfriend out. No wonder they are trying to get more money out of us to pay their bills, since my Dad isnt working now, and they arnt bringing in enough to pay their bills let alone anything else.

Me too. I think taking a shower is one way of clean living. Imagine if you go out everyday and you interact with different kinds of people carrying also different types of bacteria and virus, you will carry them the moment you got home. And it's not good specially if you have kids, since they are more sensitive to germs compared to older ones. Taking a shower daily avoids you from getting sick.

One or two baths or showers daily, depending on what I am doing and what the weather is like. I live in a place where water rates are really cheap, but I have in the past joined health clubs and showered there, partly as a time saver and partly as a money saver. It has happened when we have had some issues with plumbing in our house as well. You just really need out on your own so that you can be responsible for yourself.

Our water bill is less than $100 but it also includes our trash pick up as well. Everyone takes one shower or one bath, unless been working out in the yard and then a quick shower to rinse the dirt off. Only two loads of laundry is allowed per day except for Fridays. No laundry is allowed so I can do multiple loads on Sunday.

I believe it. We have huge water bills here too. We don't have enough water for the You mom might want to install a pay system for the water. I saw it at a camp ground. At the camp ground you put 2 quarters in and had enough water for a decent quick shower. If you brother had to pay upfront for water, he might slow down on showers.

Here in the Philippines the weather is tropical so taking a shower is a part of our everyday life. Because of our weather, we tend to sweat more specially if it's summer. And even during rainy season, most people here take a bath everyday because Filipinos are concerned in clean living; not that I'm saying other nationalities are not into clean living. Of course i understand that in other parts of the world where weather is too cold, it's not necessary for them to take shower everyday. I take a bath once or twice a day. Sometimes if the weather is too hot i take a shower 3 times a day. Whenever i go out of the house, I made it sure that i took a bath and i smell good. The problem is that, it takes me one hour in the bathroom hahaha. That's why my parents usually complain about taking a shower too long. But if I already had a long shower, the next time i take a shower on the same day, it only takes me few minutes, like 15. Our water bill increases every summer. But that's only normal since every summer, we tend to consume more water not only in taking showers but also in drinking water to avoid dehydration. I also learned that in taking showers, it's better to use lukewarm water because it regulates blood circulation. Your brother is right. In the morning, you will feel good if you had a shower. And in the evening, if you had a warm bath it puts you to sleep because the warm water relaxes your muscles and nerves.
