Well, i have... and twice... the first time was when an airline sold round trip tickets to and from Kota Kinabalu for only 1,000 php... that more or less 25 usd... imagine that... what a bargain... i bought two tickets one for me and the other for my daughter... then just last May... i bought 5 tickets to Boracay for only 5,000 php... it would have lesser but i decided to get the insurance coverage... but that is still cheap compare to the original price... I am so glad that these budget airlines are having this promo... even though the flight schedule is like months from when the tickets were bought... it is still a good thing because people like me (budget conscious) can now afford to travel by plane... unlike before when air travel was only for the rich...

Yes I did once. Me and my friend went to our friend's place in Bacolod. I haven't tried buying some more since I am not in Phils currently. That's the only problem there, you have to actually buy it months before the travel.

I have never try budget airline promotion for my long distant or short trip, i will probably try it on my next short distant trip if there is one available here. Unfortunately for us in US, we don't have such type of budget airline promo. like the region where you live, the airlines here don't have such type of sales promotion often. It is always high price regular rate for domestic and international air travelers every year, budget air travel is not some thing that US airlines are fond of doing since they have so many customers waiting in line for their services, it is not necessary for the airlines to roll out such type of sales promotion to generate traffic. There is one or two budget airlines that normally offered a bit lower price air ticket compare to major airlines, but both having safety issues with their planes, they like to cut corner in order to lower their operating costs, to subsidize for lower price tag charged on travelers. I will not recommend anyone of them.

Air travel is being promoted here in my country... airline companies are just starting out and the best way to get people to fly is to offer tickets that are cheaper then bus and boat travel... so more and more people now are trying this out... even the older ones... i remember a few years ago... air travel was only for the rich... but now... even the average income earner can travel by plane... Thanks for the response...

I have not flown anywhere lately, but years ago I did take advantage of several promotions. Once I found bus tickets to an exotic location in a library book. It was a place I had never heard of before and a 3 day's ride. Well, I went there and it was fun and exciting, but I flew home.

Bus companies here in my country rarely give promo tickets... in fact i think they never do... i prefer to fly since it is more convenient... i had a horrible experience with a 24 hour bus ride... and i never want that to happen ever again... Thanks for the response...

I've traveled by air to Hawaii before, it wasn't cheap, they packed us in like nobody's business. I'd like to take a cheap flight somewhere and spend my money on local stuff. Sounds like you got a great deal and that just means you're going to do it again. It also matters where you travel, if its to a boring place then its not worth the savings.

Places here in the Philippines are hardly boring... there is so much to do... especially in Boracay where the beach is beautiful... my husband and I went to Cebu last March... the hotel we stayed in was in a secluded area... but we made the most out of the private beach and swimming pools... Thanks for the response...

I absolutely love these airline promos or what we call the "seatsale". I've tried availing these twice. One was when we had a family trip to Siargao. It was truly a Summer Vacation to remember. Because we paid less for the tickets, all of us were able to spend Summer together. Imagine each ticket cost only around 800php round trip from Cebu (roughly around 20 usd). Another was when my friends and I went to Boracay and the tickets we were able to buy only costs 775php each (less than 20 usd each) round trip. I always take time to visit the airline's website hoping to catch another promo.

Better sign up to their website... so that you will receive the email notification a few days before the promo sale starts... i am currently signed up to 3 budget airlines... and i get these emails often... so i am always updated on what, when, and where the seatsale are... Thanks for the response...

I have not come across any of the promotional offers despite them apparently being so prolific. I would be interested in very cheap flights, but the only ones that I ever seem to find are one direction only, which often means the return flight cost would negate the saving.

I helps to sign up to their website so that you will receive and email a few days before the promo sale starts... there are cases when round trip flights are on sale... just like the most recent one i bought... but that happens like only twice a year... Thanks for the response...

I remember taking advantage of budget airlines when my partner and I were travelling to Germany, I couldn't believe the price of the tickets, £24 from London To Germany, we were staying with friends in Berlin so the holiday was extremely cheap. The taxi to get us to the airport cost us more than the £24 air tickets because we had to get to the airport early. When you have cheap flights you don't mind what time of day you travel and it's only a small inconvenience to get up earlier.

Wow... the price of your plane ticket is the same with the taxi fare... i agree as long as the it is a very cheap flight... i don't mind waking up early to catch the flight... that is a small sacrifice for something as big as saving a lot of money... Thanks for the response...

In 2008 I found a promotional budget airline deal from Bristol in England to Riga in Latvia. I booked a ticket for me, adult and my disabled son, infant. It cost around one hundred pounds. That airline gave us a miserable amount of luggage allowance. They said one bag weighing less than fifteen kilos. Packing was very challenging indeed. I needed my things and my disabled son's things including his medical gear. It was ever so difficult to pack. I couldn't fit my disabled son's lightweight travel cot in that tiny amount of luggage. I had to pay fifteen pounds more for that piece of infant equipment. We visited Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. In Estonia my disabled son's buggy broke. I had a challenging time to reach our accommodation with him, the broken buggy and our luggage. It was hard to find that accommodation. A local lady kindly helped us and found our accommodation for us. I asked a local parent out with her baby where she would go if she needed a new buggy. She told me and off we went to purchase their cheapest buggy. My disabled son was 13 months old on that lovely trip. Now he is in a wheelchair and he is aged 5 years old.

I admire you for handling the situation with ease... i would have cried if that happened to me... i have a two year old son... and i haven't taken him anywhere far... our trip to Boracay next year would be his first time to ride an airplane and the second time for my daughter... Thanks for the response...

I myself have never taken advantage of such an airline but many of my friends have and I think it is great to be able to save on a flight and just get the basics. I have many miles for the large airlines so I never pay for flights really. Remember the more you save on a flight the more you can budget towards hotel and having fun as your destination.

Thanks for the response...

Yes I take advantage of them and fortunately all the tickets that I bought were valid and I still here means nothing bad happened to me. It was exciting to go around the Philippines having these promo tickets. and now internationally. We were able to go to bacolod, davao and kalibo with 222 fare each back and forth. Yepeee such a great adventure for us. I am lucky to have not been one of the passengers who got problems like, long waiting in the airport because of the delay and so on. I am trying to look for cheap fare from time to time specially from Bangkok to Philippines and vice versa, but I guess, Thailand is one of places most Filipinos go nowadays so there is no promo ticket as low as that.

The time when there was delayed... the ticket was no a promo... and good thing the airline provided dinner... simple but at least we did not go hungry... unlike one budget airline i know... they don't care about their passenger... and would just leave them alone without any food or snack every time the flight is delayed... Thanks for the response...
