My home country is flooding

We have enough rain to last a lifetime and the rain keeps coming out of the sky. In the last week we have had very strong winds. I take my disabled son to school by pushing his wheelchair and have my daughter walking along next to us. We went around a corner and a very strong breeze hit us. We almost fell over with the strength of it. Wow! Apart from taking my dogs out we have stayed at home this weekend. Many areas of my home country are flooding due to all this rain. Has your home country ever flooded? What do you remember about floods and rain happening?

I too live in the uk and in all my life I have never known a year like it for rain and floods - It seems to be evey other week we are given flood warnings. I have only been able to mow the lawn once this year, it has been that wet. Thankfully my family have had a passion for incest for generation, so now the webbed feet and gills are proving very useful. On a serious note though, we are not used to this in the UK and it is has caused problems all year - I can't even imagine the difficulty somebody caring for the disabled or elderly will find it with roads closed and possible evacuation to contend with.

It amazes me to listen of floods in England. I do hear heavy rains there, but flooding is strange. Has the flooding receded?

I live in the U.S. This is a large country, and there have been floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, blizzards and more in one part of this country at some point or other within just the past year. Fortunately, we are not in an area that was hit hard by Sandy. However, there are many people who were, and there are people who are still working to recover from the devastation that storm wrought.

I live in Las vegas and it hardly ever rains but when it does it floods. Last month it rained more in half an hour than it rained all year and streets were flooded and cars stalled on the roads. We do need rain here but I hope you stay safe

I guess you're in the UK same as me. I have a disability so haven't been out in it but my husband went out this morning and took pictures for me to see, he had to go a really long way just to get to the local supermarket by pushbike. We live up a hill so haven't been affected by house flooding! My fence panels have blown away due to the wind it's all quite scary. My Childers school is only round the corner so luckily their education won't be affected. It's just crazy weather. I was hoping for snow lol but doesn't look like that will happen any time soon.

In the last few years my country suffers floods when it rains. Decades ago people in our country are gladly waiting for the rain to come especially the farmers. but these days- when rainy season comes- people started to panic due to floods and landslides. We have lost thousands of lives due to floods and landslides and it's really sad that this happened for 3 consecutive years now.

One of the worst things I feel about a flood is there is really not that much you can do once it starts to flood. You can prepare before hand but as that water creeps up life becomes a lot harder. How bad is the flooding in your part of the city? I don't get floods as Los Angeles doesn't have a rain issue really(just bad drainage).

Yes it has (I live in the Netherlands and the world already says enough). That strong wind we have as well.. must say this morning my dog loved it. BTW it's raining so frequently here, whole summers as well.. it's bad for the health, everything is always wet, humid air, mold, rust etc... and as soon as everything is dry, it starts all over again.
