Putting up a sleeping pattern is not as easy to execute, you need to devote yourself and be humble to the routine so that your body will adapt to your resting hours. You should set the quality of rest you need for the night. Ask yourself on how much sleep you need and how much sleep is enough. The usual sleeping pattern is at least 8-hours of sleep each night. Choose a time where your body normally feels tired so that you don’t feel unease while on the bed. Always discipline yourself with no more late night TV and or late night web browsing. Sometimes these media devices triggers a person to put a constant late night habit in which in return, puts you on a bad sleeping pattern. You should limit yourself on the hourly usage of TV and Computer and always remember that bed time is bed time. Avoid drinking caffeine and other alike beverages, caffeine causes hyperactivity and wakefulness. Lastly, a warm milk before bed time helps in stimulating a good healthy sleeping pattern.

Your mom should first determine the reasons why she isn't having a good sleep. One of the common reasons for not having a good sleep is that a person is thinking so much. She is likely bothered by many things. When you go to bed you should relax and do not think of your problems. Being bothered too much may not solve it anyways. You have to ask God's guidance and have faith in Him that eventually everything is gonna be ok. Make sure also that her bedroom is a place where she finds comfort and peace. One suggestion is that do not place a television inside her room. The bedroom should be free from any noise since she easily wakes up even from just a little sound. Try to give her a glass of warm milk before going to sleep. They say milk can help you to have a good night sleep. Do not drink anything with caffeine before going to bed. You should also seek for a physician so that you will know if there's a serious problem regarding your Mom's health. Sometimes waking up many times in the middle of the night or not having a good sleep is a symptom of a certain illness. Yes, it's true that it's not the quantity of sleep but the quality. You should also set a regular time for sleeping. Our body clock changes depends on our lifestyle.

She needs to set regular bed time like go to bed at the same time every night. She must choose a time when she normally feel tired, so that she don't toss and turn. Warm milk before bed time help us sleep better. It works for my mum. She has to exercise more during the day.

My mother is a little bit like that too, she sleeps at 6pm then wakes at 10pm and has a hard time getting back to sleep. Usually she sleeps back at 2am but wakes up again at 4am. It's a bit tiring for her but she can't control it maybe because she's 65 years old and it's natural for her age. She sleeps a lot during the day because of this. Now she reads magazines and listens to her radio whenever she's awake to help her feel sleepy. My brother has also given her a dvd player so she could watch movies and videos. I hope it's effective so that she will get the right amount of sleep that she needs.
