Hi, I'm 25 and I have been working for five years now and there has been only a single year in which I got a Christmas bonus (only some $60 in 2007) and after that the companies I have been working for all find an excuse in the financial crisis not to pay one. There was a company for which I worked that even said that there was no money for a Christmas party and when I checked their financial report a few months later I found out that their profits had increase four times. talk about uncle Scrooge! Anyway, now I'm working as an M&A analyst at a top European company and the profit for the first nine months of 2011 has increased by 41%. However, they decided to lay-off around 50-60 people all around the world and hire new people in poorer countries like mine and the Philippines, because you know, we are cheaper. Anyway back on the subject. I think it's appalling how large companies blame the crisis for not giving out Christmas bonuses despite soaring profits and it looks like there will be no Christmas bonuses at my job this year too. So, are you getting a Christmas bonus this year and how have things been over the past few years?

I thin all companies, big and small should give out Christmas bonuses.. it doesn't really need to be all money... it can be earlier time out or giving free food and other free stuff. it is Christmas, one of the few times we need to feel the joy f giving..

Here in India all the companies distributes the Bonus to their staff during Diwali, since Diwali is the biggest function all over India like Christmas. Christmas is also celebrated in India but from very old time Bonus is being paid only on Diwali.
